The Missing Sacrifice part 5 (Vampire Eloim, the second story.)
The werewolves walked through the woods; they walked on their hind legs and stood at over seven feet tall. Large and heavily muscled, they walked in confidence, knowing that nothing in the woods could match them. Ahead in the next valley, the traitor pack waited for them and the rest of their king’s army that marched to crush them. The pack leader suddenly stopped, sensing something ahead. The other five instantly crouched ready to spring into action.
The one at the back heard a slight noise behind him and turned to see a woman standing there. Her sword gleamed in the moonlight and before he could react, she had swung the blade, severing his head. The forest trail burst into life as other figures jumped out of hiding. Swords in hand, their aim to dispatch the other werewolves before they realised what was happening. Heather leapt at the closest werewolf, her sword swung down in a vicious arc to sever an arm that it raised instinctively to protect itself. As it opened its mouth to scream in pain, she thrust the short sword in her other hand through its opening mouth, smashing its fangs before piercing the brain. To her left, she saw Lisa, her sister leap high into the air bringing her blade down in a murderous overhead arc upon another werewolf. The blow smashed its collarbone before travelling down to destroy the left side of its rib cage until it emerged in a gore filled spray just above the hip, the werewolf almost sliced in two. Lisa turned to Heather and grinned, her eyes and teeth brilliantly white against her blood spattered face, her ferocity more than made up for her lack of height in any fight.
The werewolf leader saw a woman race towards him and with devastating speed he lunged at her. As his clawed hand sliced through the space where her head should have been, a burning pain seared his chest. He looked down to see the woman knelt before him, her sword thrust upwards to pierce his chest. She snarled up at him to reveal her fangs, before slowly twisting her wrist and pulling the sword clear. With a shocked whimper, his legs buckled and he collapsed. Polly stood and glanced down at the corpse of the pack leader before returning her gaze to the forest path, her sisters all grinned back at her.
“Now that was fun, anymore werewolves near here?” Dagmar asked, wiping her sword blade carefully with a cloth.
“I get the feeling there are going to be lots more,” Karla said. “It’s the Eloim effect, Lisa why are you covered in so much blood?”
“Stupid things are too tall; I got a face full of blood when I sliced its ribs open.”
“No one else had that problem, you’re just messy,” Karla replied with a grin. “You could have worn heels, an extra couple of inches and you wouldn’t look so short.”
Serenyty came running down the path. “Another group of werewolves are heading our way, about twenty of them Polly.”
“Let’s go, the search stone is still dragging us towards that ridge,” she indicated behind her. “Hopefully we’re in front of the werewolves for now. There seems to be too many out round here, even for a full moon. There’s something going on to have them gathering in such numbers.”
“It’s the Eloim effect,” Karla repeated, grinning. Heather set off down the path. “Whatever the reason, I don’t care, just more for us to kill.”
“The boys are going to be so upset at missing this, it’s fun,” Dagmar said pulling out her phone to take a couple of pictures of the dead werewolves.
Just then a howl cut through the night from behind them, followed by others joining in with it. “I think that other pack just got the scent of blood and told everyone.”
“Let’s get going, now, and stop taking photos Dagmar, this is serious,” Polly ordered.
Eloim sat down on the altar to watch the succubus. He absently rubbed at the front of one of his boots, his toes must be growing back he decided. “It must be tiring holding all these spells in place, especially with your snack-o-priest having a large silver pole through his chest, bet he won’t taste so good when you get hungry. So how long do we have to wait for that mad demon to get ready?” Eloim asked.
The succubus looked at Eloim. “I fed on the priest this morning, I’m fully charged.”
Eloim picked up the sacrificial knife. It was heavy and ornate with a six inch blade. “Should we see how long your charge lasts when I start slicing you up?” Eloim grinned, revealing his fangs as he got to his feet.
“You can’t kill me, vampire,” she said smugly, but took a step backwards anyway.
“No but I can move a lot faster than you and distract you enough so the blue stuff around your werewolf there goes out, and I bet he can easily rip you apart.”
“You think I am defenceless?” Her cloak began to tear as she unfurled her bat-like wings. Reaching up, she unfastened the clip holding the ruined cloak together and let it fall to the floor. Dropping the last of her human disguise, she stood before Eloim, her skin scaled and fingers ending in long red talons.
“Fishnet stockings and suspenders with a tacky sexy nun outfit? Your style is so original.” Eloim said sarcastically, commenting on her outfit as he took a step forward.
“The priest had simple tastes,” she replied, unclipping a whip that was secured to her belt. “I’ve had centuries to learn how to use this, for pleasure or pain.” She uncurled the whip and then cracked it through the air, the tip missing Eloim’s face by inches. “See?” she purred.
Eloim hefted the blade a couple of times, judging its weight. “Really, I’m trying to look impressed with your skills,” he said and with that, he threw the knife. It spun through the air once before the handle struck her on the forehead. She staggered back, her eyes un-focussing before her legs buckled and she dropped to the floor. Leaping over the fallen succubus, Eloim took the steps two at a time, racing up to the ground floor. When he reached the top, he saw the body of Oliver lying in a pool of faint moonlight streaming in through an un-shuttered window. The moon’s rays slowly healing his burnt and damaged body. Walking over to the door, he pulled it open before returning to the werewolf prince’s body.
“Oliver, it’s time for us to go, I need to move you and it’s going to hurt,” Eloim said to him, the prince opened his eyes and moved his head a little.
As Eloim picked Oliver up, he clenched his teeth, biting back a scream. Cradling him like a child, Eloim walked over to stand in front of the doorway and waited. After a moment he heard a great roar from downstairs and a moment later, a howl of triumph. The wall of flame holding the uncle had failed with the succubus unconscious, and now she probably lay in a more terminal sleep.
“Here goes nothing Oliver,” Eloim said and he threw the prince through the door to land on the ground outside, a strangled scream escaping the prince’s throat.
“Thought that would work, the door spell is down too.” Eloim walked through the door and looked around at the tree covered mountains surrounding the valley where the castle was situated. Hearing a noise coming from Oliver, he looked down to see his body pulsating as it reacted to the direct moonlight.
“I can’t believe you did that, vampire,” he croaked as he rolled onto his front, pulling his arms in to push himself up. “I wasn’t taking a chance on melting my outfit if the spell was still up, and seeing as you already ruined what little you were wearing when you went all crispy fried dog, you needed a new one anyway.” Eloim replied with a shrug.
“You really are a bas...” Oliver’s response was cut off as his voice became a growl, his lower face began to elongate and hair began to grow on his newly healed skin. His hands grew razor sharp talons as the sound of breaking bones filled the air. With a shake of his head, he regained control of himself and he returned to human form.
“That looked so disgusting,” Eloim said turning to look away. “Now if you’re ready can we get out of here.”
Oliver stood up and gave a great howl. The noise echoed back to them from the valley sides. After a moment, other howls answered him and he turned to Eloim and smiled. “My father approaches with the pack.”
As Eloim was about to reply, he was sent flying when something hit him from behind. Looking over, he saw Oliver already transforming, trying to defend himself from a giant wolf that had leaped from the house. The wolf picked up Oliver just as he finished changing, and threw him like a rag doll to smash into the building with a bone splitting crash. Jumping to his feet, Eloim prepared for the wolf’s attack, knowing that without a weapon he was outmatched.
