The beginner's mind is a very peculiar place we know too well, Although it shouldn't be confused with the beginner state. The beginner's state is sometimes subject to jest. so often we have heard the term "noob" used to tag someone for ridicule.

Even in the western part of Africa, we have a popular phrase like "are you a learner?"
It's normal to become uncomfortable in ignorance. We get eager to leave a beginner state that sometimes we lose the beginner's mind. That hunger and thirst for more knowledge slowly fades away.

Ignorance can a very nervous place to be, the feeling of not knowing something can be unsettling, some people even pretend to know something so they don't seem ignorant.

If care is not taken, the fear of ignorance can rob us of the opportunity to truly learn something new.

In fact, embracing ignorance, in the sense that, you can never know everything, can be Instrumental in learning faster. The beginner's mind know this too well, it has nothing to prove so its ever ready to be open and soak up knowledge.

How can one Leave the beginner's state but still keep the beginner's mind? This can be achieved by closely observing the mind and our own learning process. We were all beginners at a point or the other.

Each time we learn something new, it's an opportunity to tap into the beginner's mind. It's all about maintaining the same mindset and hunger for knowledge that we once had.

Sometimes when we become familiar with a particular knowledge, it becomes easy to be dismissive and hold on to former notions.

The beginner's mind is expanded further in Zen philosophy, which deals with maintaining a childlike and clean state of mind.

The philosophy of the beginner's mind is temporarily emptying one's self of previously held notions so you can keep seeking new knowledge.

Very important to remain a learner!

That is one of the keys of knowledge. peace

I must have the greatest beginners mind going, some days I can walk into a room and just stand there wondering why I even entered it. In fact my mind seems to like purging itself on a regular basis...or maybe I'm just getting old!

yea it happens to me too. I don't think its old age. sometimes when my mind is filled with rush. it refreshes itself. It feels strange, like am on the outside of time. I don't even bother trying to remember I just go back to what I was doing earlier or do something else. If its that important i will remember. if not then it's not to be worried about anyways.

Thanks for reading. peace and love.

The beginners mind seems to hold a sense of curiosity about the world, such a glorious sense of childlike wonder. I love that you included a bit on that popular phrase "are you a learner?"

I recently watched a Ted talk about slight language differences, and this word in this nominal tense learner has so much more potential weight in the mind of the listener than the in simpler verb context as learn.
For example, if you asked someone:

Do you want to learn?

Vs.

Do you want to be a learner?

People will find much more meaning and connection with this second phrase, bringing them closer towards their learning mind!

Thanks for this content @abmakko

Thanks for reading @coyoteom. the beginner's mind is the path to learning

Aren't we all learning? It would be foolishness to not realize that.

surely it would, thanks for reading

Your thoughts are on my wavelength, as usual!!
