Shock horror England win a penalty shootout. After taking the lead with a penalty England managed to shoot themselves in the foot with a last minute equalizer by Columbia. On paper post match Columbia had little or no chance but they as well as any other team always has a chance against England. Contrary to the biased commentary by British Media at no point did England look like world beaters but they managed to hold on and get to penalties. Columbia's best chance was to attack as they had more attacking players on the pitch when they were behind and needed a goal. As soon as they scored they were scared of giving the game away and committing players with the fear of getting counter attacked by England which is fair as England had Vardy then bought on Rashford both have pace to scare any defence. After managing to get to penalties everyone feared the worse but I was confident that England could do it as law of averages suggested they were due a victory. They kept there nerve and managed to get through to the quarter finals.
Next up are Sweden who earlier beat Switzerland in a cagey affair and was decided by a deflected strike from Forsberg with his first goal of the tournament.

Uruguay vs France
Brazil vs Belgium
Sweden vs England
Russia vs Croatia
France should have too much for Uruguay but still haven't looked and performed to the best of there abilities. The win over Argentina papered over the cracks they conceded a goal and gave up chances, the goals they scored were impressive but were against an Argentinian defence
Brazil vs Belgium is the pick of the ties on paper. Both have looked good but not amazing which can be said for all the teams. Brazil are favourites but I feel that's just on reputation, Belgium have 1 loss under Martinez and are in a winning habit. The 2 goals and numerous chances they conceded against Japan has to be a concern but I just feel they will overcome Brazil.
Sweden are underdogs against England. Sweden will look to defend which they do very well and hit England on the break which they did against Germany. Could go either way is a lot closer than odds suggest
Croatia should beat Russia comfortably but I have been backing Russia all the way only because they are the home nation and have the crowd behind them
