- In December 1996 United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 21 Nov as World Television Day.
- It commemorates the date on which the first World Television Forum was held in 1996.
- The UN acknowledges that television cam be used to educate many people about the world, its isseue and real stories that happen on the planet.
