CABINET MAKER X #30 Celtic Carving Part 4
Hi Good wood Folks,
Welcome back to part four.
I had every intention of staring this film earlier but I got in the zone and before I knew it the carving was done.
Be warned carving is highly addictive!
In this video I describe how I have carved the fish to look dramatic.
I also talk about how important it is to refer to nature or the exact subject matter.
It is too easy to fill in the gaps and then end up with a diluted end result.
light and dark will play a big part in this carving, not only the dark walnut on a light oak background but also the way the fish catches the light.
I utilise the shadows and highlights as much as possible in my work.
I am exceptionally pleased with this carving so far.
I am finding it takes quite a few videos to demonstrate the various processes involved, even on a small project like this.

Excellent work my friend, love the whole concept of the Celtic knot work. The depth of the third dimension is coming through quite nicely.
Thanks Man, Yes the Celtic thing is quite unique. Good to hear from you

Wow, that is impressive. Also, the violin and flute in the background is stunning! Now I've got to go back and watch your earlier Carving posts!
Thank you , that is very kind of you to say. The violin one is called @ the woodpecker's inspiration' and I may well do a post on it at some point. Thanks @crowbarmama
