Witness Question

Witness are the key part of the steem eco system which runs the network. They are rewarded from the rewards pool with steem!!! Everyone knows this, but I am wondering with the current value of steem around 20 cents,

is it possible to run a witness without loss every month?

is the reward adjusted to the cost of steem?

Is more witness needed in steem eco system ?

Should the top 20 concept be scrapped and expanded to include more witness in the rotation algorithm ?

      You have some great questions here! I'd be interested in seeing what the witnesses I know have to say about it.

      I can really only answer the last two. We have far more than 20 witnesses, but the top 20 at the ones who brunt the lion's share of the work. If there blockchain were to bring in all of the witnesses it currently has in the top 200, major changes to the way the Steem blockchain operates would be necessary. That said, it's not a bad idea. Many hands make light work, and such an endeavor might be worthwhile. We'll definitely need a slimmer witness node before such a thing could be a reality, though...
