Cheers, newlywed, from an oldywed...lol!

37 years we have been married, and it was not always easy, as you say. There is one deep truth we found, and it echoes what you have said.
The perfect mate is not an option. When you are ready to throw in the towel, ask yourself: Of the imperfect options available to you, did you make the wrong choice, or are they simply not fulfilling an unrealistic wish for perfection? Once you committed to each other you have an obligation to learn to FORGIVE. Fully. It is the hardest lesson of humankind and we are not required to really do it very often. We can usually get by with "blowing it off" or "getting over it" but not truly forgiving. If we can master forgiveness with just ONE human, we are doing way better than average. If that one human is the spouse we committed to, the rewards will flow for the rest of our lives.

You sound like you are on sound footing, may you and your wife enjoy a lifetime of falling in love. :)

Well-stated. Excellent perspective. 😊🙏💗
