Wicked Wayback Wednesday Walk from July 12th 2016

in #wednesdaywalk5 years ago

I'm once again dipping back my archives for my wicked wayback Wednesday Walk from July 12th 2016! Here are more shots taken in our Durham, NH yard, which happens to be right next to something like 700 acres of conservation woods, and gives us a bunch of awesome and varied visitors.

I did use one of these shots for a Foto Friday post back then, but the rest of the fifteen have only been seen by our landlady and her family. At least I'm fairly certain I sent her these - it was also around the same time we went on a family vacation to Pennsylvania, which is part of the reason I never got around to posting these anywhere. However, as I've said a number of times before, I've been in the habit of emailing her the large majority of photos I take while wandering around the property, especially since she's always so awesomely enthusiastic about my captures!

Speaking of wandering, don't forget to wander on over to @tattoodjay's latest post, called Wednesday walk challenge - The Highline and Steem Basic Income Give away which features some Wayback photos of his own from the Highline park in New York City.

Now, on to my photos from July 12th 2016!

Since these are female turkeys running across our lawn, does that mean they're late for a hen party? LOL!

While I was taking pictures of the zinnias, I noticed something dart under our front porch. Good thing I have a flash on my camera, otherwise I'd have missed this shot of Mr Toad.

  Walk from July 12th 2016
One bean to rule them all! And actually I do remember that I sent these to our landlady, because she got a kick out of my caption of this random bean plant growing in her strawberry bed.

  Walk from July 12th 2016
At some point during our first year here, this tree partially fell during a storm, and formed the letter Y. We figured it was a sign we're meant to be here. And now that I'm looking at the picture again, I realize the tree isn't all that obvious - it's the one in the center, towards the back of the clearing.

A hummingbird doing a happy dance since I refilled the feeder

I think I've been spotted!

Thin-leaved Sunflowers next to the driveway

Uh oh - looks like a storm's rolling in (much like it is today). Time to go back inside!

Bonus picture - not the best quality, but I think this is the very first shot I got of an owl baby! It was early evening that same day - Hubby & I had heard a strange screeching noise outside, and long story short, I managed to get this shot of the curious little guy!

Happy walking & see you next week!

What a fabulous selection of shots all so beautiful, always love seeing what you find for these posts

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :)

Thanks so much, @tattoodjay! I'm really enjoying going back through my archives too - I forgot about all these shots, and that I was planning to do something with them someday. Guess lately it's been Someday...LOL!

And again, thanks for being such a kind, gracious, generous, and all around wonderful tag host, which I probably shouldn't say because of how I'm damaging your reputation, so instead I'll say... stern, serious, and demanding host so that we only post our best stuff because we're all so afraid of you!

LOL Love it such a comment that really made me smile, which I know goes against the serious in the description but honestly, i seldom do serious well :)

Yay! I'm so glad, and I figured as much! And thanks so much for the tip - greatly appreciated! 😊

Wow. I'm sure glad you went to your archives for this post. These photos are awesome. The gold finches are such beauties! Did you know wild turkeys have tremendous vision? They can see 3 times better than we humans can, with a 270 degree field of vision. Owls are soooo cool.

Thanks so much, @free-reign! No, I didn't realize that about wild turkeys - I guess that's to balance out their poor flying skills...LOL! The first time I saw/heard a group of turkeys take off and land in some nearby trees was quite the experience! And owls are wicked cool - I'm hoping more owl babies show up this summer, and that I can get some decent shots. Appreciate you stopping by!

Glad to see youre still getting out and around. I've all but drained my acct dry to the point my vote does not even count. Ome last payout and I'll stop the power down and fade away with the rest of so many that came and went before me. Glad to have made at least one friend here. Love always. Keep letting your light shine for all to see. See yourself made anew.

STEVEN! Dang, I didn't realize (or maybe didn't remember) that you were planning to leave permanently. I hope you still at least pop by every now and again to say, "hello" and let me know how life is treating you. And if/when hubby & I ever get out on the road and travel down your way, it would be wicked awesome to hang out, so you can't disappear on me completely!

Just in case, my email is [email protected], so please keep in touch. Much love back at you, my friend. 😊🤗

What a wonderful place. Love your vibrant shots.
Thanks for the post!

Thanks in return, @rem-steem for dropping by, and your wonderful compliments! 😊

Ha, you're like me - not the best picture, BUT CHECK OUT THIS BEASTIE! I love owls - and love your captures of birds. When spring comes, I'll share a bird walk with you - it's winter here and I swear I only see magpies and crows.

LOL! Great minds, eh @riverflows? Thanks so much, and that would be wicked cool to see your springtime birds... however, magpies and crows happen to be a couple of my favorite birds (although I've never seen a magpie in person, given where I live... 😜 ). If you happen to take a winter bird walk, please be sure to tag me just in case, so I don't miss out!

Ive just been watching rosellas, galahs, ganggangs, wattle birds and cockies at Mum and Dads. Left camera at home! But was thinking of you at least!

Dang! Sounds like an exotic gathering, but thanks for thinking of me! You're bringing your camera next time, right...? Right??? 😂

wow lovely shots - the frog looks angry

I'm sure he was, @vibesforlife, since he was trying to escape the paparazzi and failed...LOL! And thanks so much! 😊

Beautiful images, it provokes to go to live to the field or to the forest, I love to be in the nature, I hope someday to be able to go to live to the tranquility of the field!

Thank you very much, @fmbs25! We've been incredibly lucky to live here and enjoy having the forest almost at our back door. It is very peaceful, and I hope you get to experience it some day too! 😊

Gorgeous photos! Well worth the wait!
And I love your captions, several of them made me chuckle, especially the Y tree and the one bean to rule them all.

Aww, thanks @owasco! And I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who giggles at my silly sense of humor. 😊
