Walk With Me & Billie Holiday, Breathing The City's Solitude!

in #walkwithme6 years ago

So many classic poems and also songs were written about loneliness and solitude.

All original photographs are taken in Vienna with my iPhone7

I wonder why my words flow so much better, when I am "isolated" and alone but as soon as I start living fully in the moment, there is some aliveness that comes easily.

The more present we are, the more meaningful our lives will become.

I am asking myself from time to time, how to reach out as far as possible, to find the essence of humanity in all of us, to illuminate every little corner of our lives?

Then I remember some poetry .......

The sensitive and gifted poet May Sarton once wrote that

“Loneliness is the Poverty of Self and Solitude is Richness of Self.”

For me, most of her writings are honest, thought-provoking, touching and inspirational. She represents a part of my inner self, examines appealing themes such as love, friend & relationships and the search for self-knowledge, inner peace and fulfilment.

This is my path I am on.......

I wondered lonely as a cloud by William Wordsworth .....

The theme of the following poem is the relationship between the individual and the natural world, giving us strength.

HipstamaticPhoto-542382074.612703.JPG

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed – and gazed – but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

My blog manifests all those universal themes as well as the burning wish for inner peace and freedom of my restless soul, more than ever.

I hope that you can feel the human heart, pulsing just below the surface, as one of May's critics described her novels, touching also political, feminist and sexual topics.

There is always a deep struggle to achieve more insight and endless knowledge, to show our strength, that readers do believe what we experienced. How did we feel and how you can relate.

My stories are honest! Sometimes life is so simple like those photographs, I take along my journey, the ones I show today. Sometimes a bit more complicated, just the way how I think I am, incredibly attracted to learn, how to be "ALONE" and happy.

Sounds strange for you?

Edgar Allan Poe's ‘Alone’ was written when he was only 21. I related to his sentiment in my early youth so much and read all his poetry.

From childhood’s hour I have not been
As others were.
I have not seen
As others saw.

All I loved......I lov’d alone.

Emily Dickinson, ‘The Loneliness One Dare Not Sound’. She wrote powerfully about loneliness and solitude, perhaps nowhere more movingly than here, in this poem about a loneliness so profound that we can’t even bring ourselves to confront it for fear of being overwhelmed. Source

This loneliness is

"The Horror not to be surveyed
But skirted in the Dark
With Consciousness suspended
And Being under Lock".

That's it for today again with my sweet Billie Holiday's song for you.

Solutide... It's very important for the mind. Look at all the great creations: Beethoven's music, Shakespeare's writings, Da Vinci's paintings, Newton's Principia.

People do get great ideas in a crowd. ...Great writing..I think loneliness is the source of your inspiration ..

You captured the essence of my post so well!

I shower myself in sadness and loneliness sometimes and then I feel reborn again 🌺

Damn. Beautiful poems. I am especially appreciating it in my present state, my dog and I alone while our third piece is out of town for an undetermined amount of time. This helped though - maybe I should find comfort in solitude instead of sulk in loneliness. And all that corny stuff :)

Beautiful poetry!

I loved your doggie story so much!
Check the first comment for a minute and read another incredible poem you might love as well

Thank you !! I definitely will. I am having computer issues right now but am going to leave this tab open so when they are resolved I can check it out :) Thanks!

Great writing

Loneliness in life could occur due to many reasons, and in my opinion we can live loneliness with human beings but we cannot live the loneliness of thoughts because our thoughts help us to travel everywhere our thoughts make us complete to incomplete then incomplete to complete so we have to stick to the nature of life if not things of life, because our nature is true belongingness if you try to cut off yourself from your true nature then you will become loneliness in aspect of your nature. Thanks for sharing and wishing you an great day. Stay blessed. 🙂

Hmmm! We are so complicated with our thoughts sometimes. They carry us too far away from the essence of our being. It’s so much more simple in my mind. We need to be in solitude to nurture ourselves much more than others before we can rise again and mix up with the tiring crowd.
I need and have the urge to be ALONE half of my life :) hehhee I hope you did understand my thoughts before I catch some sleep.

I think part of the artist's method demands space from all others to process what they see, hear, and to ultimately determine what we actually believe to be truth. To be unfiltered, and free of influence. To process all that we experience in our own way.

And then we return to the world to drink in again. Deeply. Only to retire, once again, to the solitary confines of ourselves to begin the process anew.

Ohhh my gosh YES YES sand mire YES!
Exactly!!!!!
