Walkwithme in the winter Sumy town. Part 2 - Historical Center

Let me continue with a small winter tour of my city and show some pictures of its historical part. It is a small hill with several pedestrian streets and 2 churches.
Soborna (Cathedral) Street with Savior Transfiguration Cathedral

and close to it the monument to Shevchenko - the famous Ukrainian poet and fighter for the existing of Ukrainian language

Altanka - a wooden gazebo, official symbol of our town. It is said that it was built more than 100 years ago without a single nail

Sadko fountain waiting for warm season,

rest zone near the fountain, covered with snow almost to the knees

View of the bridge over the Psel river and part of the town located on its other bank

Voskresenska street with an old Resurrection church at the end of the street.

It is more than 300 years old. Long time ago it was used as a fortification and there were discovered underground tunnels in its basement leading to the river.
Here we are a little closer

It was my native town of Sumy (Ukraine) waiting for spring at the end of March 2018.
