New voting... still haven't found the balance... I'll keep trying
First, people. The voting potential has been reduced quite a bit so replying and saying "Come vote for my post" is not the way to go. I can vote 10 posts per day with my account at 100%. I could vote 100 posts per day at 10%. I love to vote. I'm still trying to find my balance and doing a piss poor job of it.
I will vote for people. There will be people I find a good thing after I've voted more than I should that I don't vote for just because I've BLOWN MY WAD so to speak. In the past before HF19 (which I really like, just trying to find a rhythm) I voted 100% on posts and 20% on comments, and I voted on almost any comment that was even slightly engaging. I've been trying a few 100% and some lower on posts, and I've had to resort to 1% per comment. I am still rapidly seeing my voting % decline. This means I'm going to have to vote less or I'm going to need to drop my post voting slider lower. It will probably be the latter.
In that image because of how much I vote a 100% vote from me would actually only be worth 64.36% of my vote. If I slow down some it will regenerate.
I wanted those of you that are accustomed to me voting on most of your stuff know that I will still do what I can, but if I miss some or you see me not giving you 100% now where I did in the past this is why. The only upside to this I can give you is that after HF19 even my vote at 1% is worth more than it was before the hard fork.
I believe these limits need to be here to protect the currency and all of our investment it will just take some relearning how to balance on this new high wire.
Also, we have a lot of people joining. It can be really easy to miss posts. The best thing I can say is DON'T TAKE IT PERSONAL and keep writing. I still look back at many posts I loved that I wrote that got $0. Yes, this happened. So if you make more than $0 that's actually an achievement. It is also more than any of us would be making at facebook, reddit, etc.
Again it is not personal. It is either I didn't see the post, or I didn't have any significant voting power left.
ADVICE: Don't ask for follows in comments. Some people won't follow you simply because of that. They'll follow you because they like what you said in a post or a comment. Also don't beg for votes. With how the vote balance is tough right now begging for votes is an easy one to toss aside. I say this because it is happening to me every day, and I know it is happening to people way higher in the food chain (I was number 578 when I looked yesterday) even more.
I haven't been able to find balance with percentages. I also haven't really tried. I do agree though, with or without the vote, keep writing. Some posts may not reach more than a few dollars but it adds up if you're persistant.

I'm not sure where it pops up... I think it was 500 steem power. It may be lower now, but I believe that is around where it appears.
It seems you need to have 420 Steem Power on your wallet for this. But now everyone have a slider using eSteem (mobile version of Steemit). Cheers! I wrote about it two days ago.

Let us know when you will find balance, I was voting so much, that I went to 35% of voting power... Now I vote just a little little, and I have it on 45% already, anyways, I like my updated voting value heh :D

The slider unlocks I believe at 500 steem power. When you click the up arrow a slider from 1 to 100% will show up.

You're doing pretty good on steem power considering how recently you joined. You'll get there pretty quick. Just stick with it.
I spend now a lot of time here, mostly with figuring out how to rise up, I have some ideas that work, and some that should work soon, thanks for motivation, I would like to make steemit one of my extra incomes. All the best for you :)

You will... just keep at it. I had so many posts I worked hard at and loved that made $0 starting out. You really just have to write for the love of it and let what happens happen. My voting woes here are more about me finding a balance that let's me vote the way I want and give back like I like to do.
I'm doing much the same thing. There are people I always try to support and I hate not being able to give everyone 100%. What seems to be working is 25% for posts and 10% for comments. With each, they're still doing much better than before the HF and I'm still able to upvote pretty much as much as I like.
With my voting power sucking at 1% I am still giving $0.15 in comments so that's where I am keeping it. I like to up vote comments. Gives people another almost hidden surprise and encourages discussion.
I feel bad because I consistently forget to upvote comments which I really intend to do. I am getting better though. I guess I get so caught up in the conversations it just slips my mind!
Heh... yeah no worries. Most people don't. It is just something I try to do.
That's what bothers me... I do too. There are some good people that always upvote my comments and I like to return the favor- then the "old age syndrome" kicks in!
If the people you refer to are at all like me they won't hold it against you at all. :)

Your post is accurate if earning money from curation is your goal. It is not mine. I do it to support content I like. So this line of yours I don't actually do myself...
I stopped voting that way a long time ago. I vote to encourage people to write things I like, whether others agree or not. This may hurt my curation rewards, but that is okay as I'd rather have more things I am interested in. Also curation rewards are pretty low anyway until you get quite a bit of power.
Though what you wrote does work pretty well for curation and matches similar posts I've seen from other people over the months. It will help people with that type of goal for sure.
So it is good. Just now how I do it. :) Do what fits you, that's the best advice I can give.

I am with you. I tend to vote on people I support and have supported me. Curation rewards perhaps suffer a bit but that is not my only goal.
so comments like "make me reeyach beeyach" or "gimme all dem coins doe" are not good? no wonder people aren't following me.
haha... I haven't gotten those... mostly a lot of Follow me, or read this post that has nothing to do with the topic of my posts, or vote on my top 3 posts please... stuff like that.
I don't mind links to posts that are relevant to my post or a discussion we are having in the comments.
@dwinblood I have also been getting a lot of these type comments, I have started asking them to stop spamming my post, so far they have all quit. I never done that when I started but I remember people back then getting flagged for it.
I see some people flagging them. I'll use the flag only for spam, plagiarism, or abuse and technically people might consider it spam, but I figure them not getting my vote or my follow might be discouraging enough. I avoid the flag unless it is a last resort. I don't like the negative PR and wars that arise from it. Though I won't stop other people except with my words. I wrote my post hoping some of them might see it and I might reach more of them.
You guys are probably getting those a lot at your level but I haven't had one yet. :)
If u want to keep voting like before couldn't u just change post votes to 25% and the comments to 5%? Anyways, I think keeping engaged with ur audience is one of the most important things. Can't wait till I got that slider unlocked o.O
