STEEMPUNK-NET - MMORPG on STEEM - User Interface Suggestions For Character Equipment Screen

In my previous post I gave a quick overview and introduction to @steempunknet The game is moving forward nicely with many new users signing up. If you have not signed up yet check out my previous post for instructions.

A great FAQ here which covers many common questions.

In this post I will be showing some suggestions I have for how the character is displayed and the user interface of the character equipment screen in the game. Keep in mind these are only my suggestions as a beta tester for this game so there are no guarantees that any of this will be implemented into the game. So this is my DISCLAIMER to the readers of this post, that there is no guarantee that any of these ideas will end up in the game.

Character Equipment Screen

So, lets look at the character equipment screen I am suggesting for the game.

As you can see in the screenshot above, this is simply just the screen for all the current items that your character you have created in the game has equipped. There are shadow outlines of what type of item can be placed in each spot.

The above screenshot just shows a diagram of what items each spot represents and the bottom button is just a new menu item for a separate character equipment screen.

Character Display

One of the most important aspects of most MMORPGames is the ability to create a unique character you play as. This is done by gathering/creating items in the game for your character to equip, there needs to be a way to display this uniqueness visually. So for my next suggestion I think the character you use in the STEEMPUNK-NET game should be displayed on your blog page.

In the screenshot above you can see @dehenne character displayed on his blog homepage. So everyone who is playing STEEMPUNK-NET and has the plugin installed and enabled when they visit
https://steemit.com/@dehenne
or the homepage of any other player, will see their unique character they have created displayed as shown in the screenshot.
Now lets combine this concept with the character equipment screen and put a few items on our character. Here are a few items I will equip our character with.

Now as we place those items on the character equipment screen the character will wear them.

As you can see I have equipped the character with a helm, shoulder armor, pants, and a weapon and the items appear on the character for everyone to see. As more items are introduced into the game and as players can craft their own items this will create the ability to create unique looking characters, users of the game can create.
As with most games of this type every item has unique features and attributes which benefit your character, these attributes will be displayed when you hover your mouse pointer over the item as shown in the screenshot below.

In Summation

As you can see from my suggestions above I am not reinventing the wheel here, just simply suggesting things that many similar games have had throughout the years. Once again keep in mind that these are simply my suggestions and ideas as a beta tester of this game and there is NO GUARANTEE any of this will be implemented in the game.

In future posts I will share more ideas regarding user interface and game play for this project. Thanks for reading :)

this look really great... I would love to see, something like that implemented in the game.76314-goku-thumbs-up-gif-YLiN.gif

I like your ideas a lot; from a programming perspective I wonder how much harder it may or may not be to put the character on the actual steemit blog page as opposed to just keeping the character in the steempunk frame on another tab; I'm not sure if we need a separate equipment tab per se, but also combining that with the inventory tab would make sense; for instance, we have a tab that is dedicated to just inventory and the wapons and armor is also on this tab but is simply divided into their own respective sections. I think the way the frame currently is, what if they put the visual character directly below your name and level (right above your SPF); and then move the Weapons and Items (basically our current inventory) to a new tab?

the thing is, we want to intecrate it in utopian and busy, too. so, maybe we have different designes and get a problem in one of those. but hey, I'm sure we'll figure out how we can put this in. :-)

From a programming perspective I dont think it would be that difficult to display the character on the screen, it would basically be done the same way as the treasure chest images appear on the screen now. The only difference is it would always be there on your blog page in the same spot instead of, like the treasure chest images which appear randomly anywhere.

Wow, your ideas are realy great!

These are great ideas. I'm sure there would need to be adjustment to make it work smoothly with the game's current coding and play, but it's a good direction.

One point I must disagree with is showing the character on the blog page, where anyone could go see it whether they play or not. Steempunk is great because it allows play without interfering in the other reasons people use Steemit. My own activity here is for a purpose, and a somewhat professional blog page is a part of that. A game avatar boldly waving my passtime interests around is not conducive to being taken seriously. The top section of the stats/items page should incorporate this instead, or if feasible, make a separate tab for it.

Thanks, no the character would only be visible to people who have the plugin installed/enabled.

Great concept art for equipment slots. I would love it if there would be an implementation like that.

Kind regards
