D.S.E.S: Decentralised Sustainable EcoSystem - Complemented Parallel Lifestyle to Support the Current Fiat World
Hello again, World...
(haha. Yet another "robotic" greetings)
I wish all readers well and as your soul prospers (at peace)
After my first introduction post, I would like to continue to touch and expand on the subject of how D.S.E.S could work in the world we are currently in with the help of a real life example.
The Traditional Model
Most people who jumped into the crypto bandwagon would have thought of a simple fact: It is another new income opportunity where one can use it for their fiat exchange advantage; usually for the future.
This would most probably in everyone's mind when they first jump into Steemit (or whaleshares) platform.
However, as I have noticed that in order to get into our hands in fiat currency, there is a certain minimal criteria to achieve it reaches our hands.
As right now STEEM is still fighting its way to be one of the more loved cryptos in the exchange market, you would have noticed you have to go through certain stronger crypto that plays well in the market in order to exchange for your local fiat currency.
Namely: Bitcoin, EOS, ETH and so on... those that are WIDELY ACCEPTED especially in the more renown crypto wallets.
Until STEEM achieves a majority popular vote and stand with the stronger cryptos in this digital world.
So this also means: There will be many red tape / hurdles to cross, with fees attached.
And half of the time, with minimum cash out, by the time it lands in the hands of the content creator who has painfully taken his / her time to create something meaningful and approved by the majority (even with the twisted hand of chance with the bid bots) would not have much left with all the fees cutting through their earnings.
The people suffer. Especially small timers.
Thinking Out of The Box: Applying Parallel Support
As most of the Steemians here who believes in this wonderful PoS (Proof of Stake) system that @ned and the entire #Steemit team has envisioned and work hard on, including all witnesses who painfully maintained the network to keep this entire chain alive and well, fighting against all odds to keep promoting and maintaining this ecosystem, I see that there is a possible alternative way to make this already establishing structure more valuable to the public eye - by making it MEANINGFUL in their minds and hearts.
Let's be practical. Everyone works hard in here still needs to survive. To many (including myself) it's not just a game anymore.
While many like the @dollarvigilante often prefers to promote crypto as a total liberty lifestyle over fiat, many regular people out there still suffer in limitation of technology and live under the compliance of the current government system; and as I have mentioned in my introduction post, no doubt no-governance sounds like a utopia, but human nature still uncannily carries a certain about of dark side behaviour that a certain governance is still needed until hearts are fully changed (repented) and liberated from the dark side.
(And I won't touch that part, because that would probably require a whole 10 pages of subject to touch upon regarding faith - not religion)
So why overthrow the current system now, when you can compliment with a parallel structure?
As a programmer and a software engineer, one knows that the resistance of total change is there. No one overthrows a software structure immediately and just BLUNTLY REPLACE it with a new one.
There will always be a crossover time frame where parallel systems runs together until the new one stabilizes.
And this is what D.S.E.S is proposing.
Not to overthrow it all together, but to compliment the current lifestyle so that people have a much more flexible choice to choose how they spend / save their income as per their needs.
Minimizing Red Tapes: Bringing More Bread to the Table
Let just clear it over here. Exchanges are great, when it is used for exchange players who earns via trading, especially when they want to trade their income to their favourite crypto via services like @blocktrades . I highly recommend those services especially when that case scenario is applied to users' needs.
But not everyone needs it that way.
There are plenty of people out there who still needs the fiat in the real world, but at the same time they do not have that much to convert to make things tangible via these services.
So what if there is a way to instead relying on exchange giants to do the heavy lifting, we create many "mini exchanges" through human relations / local community support?
Just so you know I speak of them as giants because of their risk investing capitals to create user interfaces, systems and ALSO playing as a role in taking in whatever others dump to them.
It's really hard work and a lot of risk. That's why fees have to be there. And I am not against their effort. In fact, I commended their effort.
Imagine in a local community, if well formed and growing with the same mission and vision, has many support pods for any individual in their local community to assist an earner's needs for practical daily use, minimising as much extra charges as possible for a small amount transaction, be it P2P (peer-to-peer) direct exchange, or even providing services and goods in a day-to-day basis; how much more easier that a person's needs could have been met?
In my Introductory Post I mentioned certain real life example like: paying tabs for another person, while that person pays back in Steem / SBD.
Source
@elizacheng managed to settle her hungry belly with the help of @littlenewthings settling her tab by paying @littlenewthings SBD while she pays in fiat.
Because both believe in the STEEM / SBD's value, this exchange could take place.
Through Charitable Works
Another great example just recently, @joannewong pitched a request in the DSES exchange community in #teammalaysia discord of her desire to obtain some STEEM / SBD, and @gtpjfoodbank just so happened to have receive enough donations from @adollaraday via @fundition through their newsletter updates to keep people aware and well informed while earning Steem / SBD, and made the exchange directly to fulfill each other's needs.
This same model can be applied into endless scenarios, depending how creative the community applies it.
But most importantly...
... the community believes it works.
And this comes from the mind and hearts, not some regulated system that enforced it.
And what makes this even better...
... is that one earner does not need to have a handout mentality , but a changed contributing mindset that he / she can live without plainly rely on charity, but can be part of a collaborating ecosystem.
This eventually makes a person feel less useless , isn't it?
And be excited to be part of something.... bigger than themselves, and still can meet their needs.
I hope this entire sharing gives you some food for thought, and if you are interesting in applying this model in your own local community, please feel free to share it here so that this account can keep you in its list to support pushing the idea with the #dses hashtag embedded.
Until then

Some excellent ideas here @littlenewthings - maybe we can talk more on a radio show sometime soon?

That sounds like a good idea @pennsif , let me know of your schedule so that I will know when to stay awake since our timezone is very different. DM me for details then. Thank you so much for noticing this post and hopefully we can work on something with the help of an entire community.

I gotta say ... this is some title.
Couldn't think of anything shorter @thesteemengine....
That's a great explanation of running the systems parallel. Even if fiat was eventually phased out there would be that in between time where they would both have to operating until a switch was made.
Yes, and not only that, having a way to minimise exchange fees and getting things done in crypto through a local community support, be it in the same township, same state or same country does impose a lot more flexibility to run on a parallel support.
The only thing is that this awareness has to be there.
