Train To The Shard
London Bridge Approaches
I took the photograph of this train out of the window of our hotel room. We were in London for the weekend to visit The Shard. We stayed in the local great value, Travel Lodge hotel but what a view!
It also had a fantastic breakfast and friendly, helpful staff.
I loved watching the trains coming and going with this incredible backdrop.

What a great view! I was not familiar with the Shard. Quite impressive.

It was only a Travel Lodge hotel too @tattoodjay so we didn't pay much for it. We were very fortunate. 😊

I'm also interested in seeing some of the architecture of your cities. I read about this London skyscraper and its architect. This is an interesting project. It would be very nice to get to the top. I read that there are apartments with viewing platforms. Is that right?
I've written a few posts about The Shard @madlenfox but it was maybe back when I was first here. I posted some pictures from the viewing platform which is open to the public, and from the restaurant we ate in.
It sounds like it's time to write some more as I must have written these before we met. 😁
I've got tons of photographs as I couldn't stop snapping away. It's a trip well worth doing!
There are definitely apartments in the building and they would all have amazing views. Thanks for asking. 😍
@gillianpearce, I would love to see Your story about it. I am always interested to learn such stories and descriptions, opinions and their personal views from people who have visited such interesting places. This is better than information from tourist guides and booklets. Well, at least for me, heh. :)
I think I might try and get all the photographs together @madlenfox and then write a few posts at once and post them over a period of time.
It would probably more efficient that switching between topics all the time but there never seems enough spare time to write more than one post in one go. 😁
The Shard is impressive! The scale of the building is just insane!
I used to love looking at it out of the train window @rimicane, when it was being built. it was so close to the station and you have to really crane your neck to see it, even before it was fully completed. 😁
