Travel Tip: Pruhonice Park, beautiful natural area on the outskirts of Prague

in #traveltip6 years ago (edited)

Dear Steemit friends and followers,

Welcome to my Travel Tip series where I promote some of the most beautiful places, interesting landmarks and impressive architectural sites of my homeland, the Czech Republic.

Today, I would like to take you to one of the most beautiful natural places of Prague, the spectacular (yet relatively unknown) Pruhonice Park.

Once you make it to this park, you will hardly believe this green oasis of peace and quietness is located just a few miles outside the hustle and bustle of the Prague center.

Spreading over a total area of 240ha, the Pruhonice Park is one of the largest landscaped parks in the country and possibly also in Central Europe.

Founded in 1885, the Pruhonice Park offers a variety of different floral species (about 1,600) and eco-systems ranging from Alpine meadows to coniferous woods and even some exotic plants and trees.

Dominated by the magnificent Neo-Renaissance Pruhonice Castle, the park is open to public all year round but for obvious reasons, spring is the best time to visit it as that is when most of the flowers start blooming. Visitors usually particularly admire the renowned collection of rhododendrons, containing more than 100 species and cultivars.

There are several routes in the park, ranging in the length and time, so that everyone can choose according to their preference. If you want, however, you easily spend the whole day at this beautiful place.

That is exactly the problem many people make when visiting the country as they only limit their visit to the capital. The Czech Republic has so much more to offer outside the beautiful capital. I am glad to hear that people are finding about those places on my blog. Have a good one. Tomas

I am very happy to hear that. Thank you for your pic:)!

I am also very happy to visit there

Really fantastic and beautiful place, nice walk and good for picnic. It is famous for blossoming.
A blend of a park and a botanical garden, this is a favourite place for a quit walk especially in the rear parts of the park. The impressive castle dominates the surroundings but the park also contains lakes, a small river with many waterfalls, forests, woodland and rock garden,in addition to numerous types of flowers in bloom. Overall, an amazing location just outside of Prague. time to visit is mid-spring when most flowers are in bloom. Structured walks and lovely buildings to look at too.
well worth a visit if you like nature and beauty....and walking.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful Travel Tip @czechglobalhosts.

photos and info are awesome. thanks, for sharing :)

a very peaceful place and I love the place
