Ecotourism! Walking in Lukovit

How to cure nerves and get rid of migraines

Bulgaria offers not only beach and medical tourism, but also such a direction as ecotourism. Hiking in the Balkan mountains and hills not only develop horizons, but also physically heals. While you climb the next summit, you breathe in the clean and healthy air of the untouched nature of the country.

Now I’ll show you the autumn photos of the Panega Landscape Park. Remember the last time I wrote that traveling around Bulgaria is best in spring or autumn? So you fall. October.

The first Iskar-Panega geopark was built with the financial assistance of the European Union in 2006. They built it for two years. The park is located in the community Lukovit - it is 100 km from Sofia.

The Iskar-Panega geopark is divided into two parts: the Panega landscape park, which is located directly in front of Lukovit, if you drive from Sofia (100 km) and the Karlukovsky karst complex, which is located near the village of Karlukovo.

The park was created to promote ecotourism in Bulgaria. And it should be noted that in this direction the Bulgarians have where to turn: the country can walk and walk endlessly!

The park starts on the edge of the Sofia-Pleven-Ruse highway.

River "Panega". The water here is clean and quiet. The river has such a magical color because of its silt.

Caves and caves in karst rocks.

The trail goes along the Panega River, a tributary of the Iskar River. This river originates from the largest karst spring, the Head of Panega, located about 19 km south of Lukovit.

On the trail there are very steep stairs. You need to have good shoes and hold on to the handrails.

There are many bridges on Panega. Periodically, you have to go to the opposite banks of the river when rocks grow out of the water.

Within the park, several hiking trails of varying lengths are decorated: bridges, stairs, gazebos, barbecue areas (however, there is not a single garbage can).

On this bridge you find yourself in a small canyon. Here is the “Panezhka Temna Dupka” (Panezhskaya Dark Hole) with the source - an unexplored cave.

Ahead of the area "Cotten" - rocky heaps formed a kind of huge amphitheater. Here you can see various rock figures.

It is believed that the combination of water, vegetation and forms of rocks of this place, create a special natural biotope that facilitates migraines and nervous tension.

The air temperature during the walk, captured on these photos, was +11, which, in principle, is rather cool for Bulgaria, is usually warmer. However, there is no damp, frost and rain. Therefore, walking here is quite comfortable, if you warmly dressed.

As you can see, Bulgaria has something to offer tourists at any time of the year 😊

Walking in these places, as well as parking - free. You just come and walk - everything is equipped, cellular communication works, real people occasionally come across on the way 😊

Shepherd and buffalo with a calf. Bulgarians make a unique product of buffalo milk: buffalo kiselo.

Thank you for your time and attention.
