Hello 2019! How is the new year going for everyone? If travel was on your list of resolutions, we have three articles from Asia to get you inspired. We'll start out with first impressions of Abu Dhabi, after the author lived there for one month. Next up are the Marble Mountains, near Hoi An in Vietnam: a set of massive hills with caves that have long served as places of worship and recreation. And if you like baby elephants than you're going to get a kick out of the last featured article, about the Udawalawe National Park in Sri Lanka.

It's almost been a month since we arrived in Abu Dhabi. Of course that's still not too long, but long enough to get a feel of the place and some first impressions. So far we're enjoying life here very much, the constant beach weather and the fact that everyone is so friendly is amazing! We're finding our way around the city, discovering new things every weekend.

I typed in "marble mountains" on google maps which let me to the starting point. This starting point is different than the one from the tours. The one from the tours uses an elevator to get up in the mountain area. I'm kind of on the other side of the mountains. There are a lot of temples (pagodas) here.

Enough complaining because a visit to this park was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Sri Lanka. After we had lost most of the other jeeps we drove around on our own for a while. The park is mainly grasslands and bush forest so we had good views. It did not take long before we saw our first elephants.
