Australian Coastal Adventures - Part 3

in #travelfeed5 years ago

Day two of our getaway to Australia’s South Coast started with room service! My husband and I each ordered a traditional Aussie breakfast which included eggs, hash browns, toast, sausage, bacon and a baked tomato! So this doesn’t sound too much different to an American breakfast, but let me tell you... Australian bacon has a different cut than American bacon. So the texture is soft vs. crispy. Also, Australians know how to scramble an egg. Scrambled eggs here are always so creamy! Way better than the overcooked stuff we have at home.

Catch up on Australian Coastal Adventures PART ONE and PART TWO.

Day two on the coast was pretty chill. We walked a lot, and spent most of the day meandering from beach to beach. Our explorations took us to different spots in the towns of Narooma, Kianga, Dalmeny and Mystery Bay.

Our morning’s first stop was a walk along Narooma’s Mill Bay Boardwalk. The wooden pathway is 350m long and is a populate spot for walking, biking and fishing. Manta rays are known to swim next to the boardwalk hoping for treats from fisherman. Sadly, no rays were spotted this day. None the less, the views were stunning.

More eye candy.

Nearby the most Australian restroom ever.

At the opposite end of the boardwalk you reach the northern breakwater for Wogonga Inlet. There is a shark protected swimming beach on the inner breakwater. A wide sand surf beach is on the outer side of the breakwater.

Look how well that shark net is doing it’s job! 😉 🦈

Hubs chillaxin’ on the breakwater.

Almost 360 from the breakwater.

After visiting some other beaches we returned to the main part of town for lunch. We also stopped into the visitors center. Hubs had some fish and chips which he gave high marks. I had an equally tasty chicken sandwich. The main takeaways from these two experiences... the visitors center has a cool lighthouse exhibit, and rainbow lorikeets are the aggressive pigeons of Australia’s South Coast. 😂

When a lorikeet tries to eat the fries right off of your plate!

Next stop for the day was the Narooma Cemetery. Sounds a bit morbid, but the place has spectacular views! Plus, I kind of enjoy cemeteries.

The view from the cemetery. It reminded me a lot of Cannon Beach in Oregon and Morro Bay in California.

We wrapped up our last night in Narooma with a sunset stroll through town and sandwiches back at the hotel. The trip was short but relaxing. Plus, that little time away from the in-law’s felt like real vacation! 😬

It's so lovely by the waterfront 😍

I was looking at old posts and realized I never responded to your comments.

First thank you for your kind words. It was very lovely by the water.

Second, apologies for my delayed reply! I just have been so engrossed by vacation I forgot to revisit and reply!

Third this area is part of the area recently effected by the Australian bush fires. This town Narooma didn’t burn, but many people evacuated here to escape.

That bird reminds me of that squirrel I saw while working the other day.. always begging for food.. damn.. #getajob .. like that shark net. That thing is doing a great job

Gads, somehow I missed replying to every comment on this post from 2 months ago. What a 🍆. The fricking birds... cute at first but ... dang. Stay away from my food bird.

What awesome shots and videos, the breakfast looks so good, I am hungry now from seeing it, luckily i am about to have my dinner,
The shark nets are a good idea but I always hope there well maintained lOL

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :)

Hello! Thank you for this comment from two months ago! I must have been so wrapped up in vacation I never replied to the folks who visited this post!

This was the first time I saw a shark net in real life! Instead of making me feel safe I was just worried that there must be a lot of sharks around! 🤣😂

No worries you were probably and should have been focused on your vacation 👍🙂👍
