ASW Contest #23 - Rust - Strangelove/The Horse of the Apocalypse
Very interesting place at the coast of Baltic Sea to the north from Palanga, Lithuania. Almost on the border with Latvia. If interested here is GOOGLE MAPS COORDINATES.
Seems they don't have any web site yet, but here you can find their FACEBOOK
So, the place is called MINISKY SPOT and generally it is a small camp just at the open field for a kiters who can come with their cars or even with living trailers and to stay for quite a longer time. It is located almost at the coast, maybe some 50-100 meters to the beach. There is actually nothing around, except you can see the warehouses of Butinge Oil terminal far away to the shore. Otherwise empty and wild place, which is just perfect for kiting, since there are no any obstacles at the sea. Only you need good wind of course and at least some experience, since it is pretty dangerous to train at seaside if you do not have any. In this case and for first lessons people normally going to the Curonian Lagoon, which is much more safe. Sea obviously always more dangerous
Another attraction they tried to arrange this year is temporary small transparent domes for the stay overnight. And if you are lucky to have clear sky this night, you can feel yourself in the middle of the universe starring at all those stars above you. Actually haven't tried it.. yet... guess very worth to do.
Actually was there only one time so far and that was a trip for a special steam-punk style photoshoot. This place was chosen on purpose, because they have brought two old-mobiles there, rusty and just perfect for such kind of photos.
So here is the series of photos showing one of them with perfect yellow-red rust, most amazing at the golden hour which we were trying to catch.
Guess the owners are just huge fans of DEPECHE MODE. This metal plate with STRANGELOVE sign just says it. Being the fan of DM for many years, this car is something more special for me even :D
Enjoy the scenery!
