Travel Pro Tip #22: Get a Massage from the Blind in Thailand
If you've ever visited the Kingdom you'll see massage parlors all throughout Thailand. The locals get massages, the tourist get massages, everyone gets massages in this country. It's so common that the price is often no more than your Starbucks coffee.
Being handicap and from a country with poor social welfare programs is not easy. Often the blind learn to do massage, and they naturally excel at it. Many people shy away from having a handicap person give you a massage, there for the prices are even lower. With their heightened senses the massage is often incredible.
I recently got a massage from the blind in the north east corner of old town in Chiang Mai. It was a good experience, a different experience; being in the company of half a dozen blind people was quite unusual. Besides the massage I saw how they count money, walk around, and often pass time with their head phones on. I was happy to go there and help support their livelihood by giving them my business. A lot of people were going there and yes, it was a great massage!

What a great source of livelihood for the blind who often have a very hard time finding work! And oh to have massages be the price of coffee...that would be AMAZING....
Yes, massages for under five US dollars. Makes them affordable for everyone. One reason why I love Thailand! So I filled out the form from @sndbox's webwsite. Now waiting to hear back from them. Looking forward to learning more about it. Thanks again for the nomination.
