POP QUIZ - What should be your first stop once you get to Wisconsin?

Now @papa-pepper had not been all around the world, but he has traveled a bit around North America. On our recent trip to Wisconsin, we did it right! Are you ready for the answer of what should be the first stop?

CHEESE STORE!

SOMETIMES LIFE JUST WORKS OUT

A while after we finally put Illinois behind us on our trip up north, "Sweet Pepper" notified us that it was time for her to use the restroom. As you can tell from the photo above, even pulling in to the parking lot and getting unbuckled was not enough relief. When an potty-training two year old has to go, they have to go.

Fortunately, we were right near the exit for The Mousehouse Cheesehaus. Now I'm not really into killing birds with stones, but if I was, I think an opportunity like this could be called "killing two birds with one stone." Our little pepper could use the bathroom and we could pick up some cheese.

Being a family that blogs now, we took the photo opportunity in front of their custom van. The @little-peppers were excited about it too, since they know good cheese when they taste it.

What's a custom van without the custom plates?

ENOUGH PHOTOS IN THE PARKING LOT ALREADY - GET TO THE STORE!

After only a few minutes of photos in the parking lot we found the door and entered! Before too long our @little-peppers were empty (remember the bathroom) and we were checking out the cheese! (Trust me, it can be exciting.)

CHEESE CURDS

Cheese curds are a Wisconsin favorite. They are so tasty and when they are fresh, they even squeak when you bite into them. I was impressed with the selection that they had at The Mousehouse.

I picked up four varieties while we were shopping. There were many more that I would have liked to try, but I was impressed with the ones that we bought.

  • Ghost Pepper - So good and very hot! Nice stuff.
  • Wasabi - Not as hard-hitting as the Ghost Pepper, but still a spicy treat.
  • Original - A classic. Just the way it comes out!
  • Garlic Dill - This one was a pleasing curd as well. Good flavor that kept you wanting more!

One of the other things that I enjoy about shopping at cheese stores and cheese factories is that there are often so many other items to purchase. Hot sauces are often popular at stores like this and so are a variety of meat goods.

This one happened to have an excellent variety of fudge as well. It sure was beautiful to behold, and we just might have to put it on our list next time, but that is not what we came for.

It was the cheese that we had in mind! Though you cannot find it everywhere, they did have a type of Raw Milk Gouda. Cheese from raw milk is becoming increasingly rare commercially, we there are some companies that still produce it. For our family, we really enjoy it and our children like it too, so we usually try to locate some at stores like this. Sometimes we have to ask, but we can usually find some somewhere.

It was a great place to stop, and only proper that a cheese store would be the first place we checked out upon arriving in Wisconsin. Just look at the size of that bag that Red-Pepper is holding. Yeah, we bought some cheese!

In case you saw the last photo and wondered where Pinky-Pepper was, don't worry. She was enjoying a beef stick with another mouse in the entryway.

REALLY? CHEESE STORES?

Just in case some of you are wondering if Cheese Stores are actually popular, you should know that this is my third post about visiting a cheese store. I've blogged about another one in Wisconsin and one in Missouri too!

To be honest, you are the one that actually inspired me to do this seeing as how you yourself have done something similar but bigger even. Take care.

Thank you for that. I'm working behind the scenes with some folks right now. Thanks again!

Thanks for such an interesting and humorous at the same time post. My favorite kind of cheese is cheddar.
If you are a real cheese-lover what do you think about mozzarella? And lamber?

Cheesey post... but I love it!

Cheese is a food product made of milk that has the shape and taste in accordance with the milk used. Therefore, cheese still has some content similar to the milk used.

Provided that it is not consumed in excess and enough to meet the nutritional needs of each day, the content in the cheese can provide you various benefits.

The content of calcium, phosphorus, and protein in the cheese is good for dental health. Although not yet 100 percent of the research states that, but some studies claim that cheese such as mozarella and cheddar cheese can help in preventing the damage or dental fragility.

Great post @papa-pepper

AH yes. Many believe in certain foods, like cheese, being able to help keep teeth strong.

We stopped at Osceola Cheese on our way back from Springfield yesterday! Everything on a toothpick is tasty! Grabbed some Asiago, 7 year Cheddar, and Provolone. I wish we'd grabbed a Pepper cheese, too, but 20-20 hindsight. We make yummy grilled cheese sandwiches with the goods.

That sounds so good man! You can get full on samples there for sure!

My son would get a kick out of this pic!

That's an easy one... CULVERS!!! Beautiful pics and wonderful kids!
