Exploring Queensland - Cedar Creek Falls
I've been a little silent with my travel posts lately. For the last few weeks I’ve been moving slowly through Australia while visiting a friend, it's been a really fun experience. The weather has been a little temperamental but I’ve been able to explore more of Melbourne, also Sydney and the Queensland area where I currently reside and write this article from.
While staying near Airlie Beach on the cost of Queensland I rented a car with a friend and we decided to explore this area for the day. First stop was Cedar Creek Falls near Conway Beach in the Whitsunday area. This location is about 30 minutes from Airlie Beach and is a natural fresh waterhole with water falling from the rocks above and trickling on down the stream. Thanks to the heavy rainfall the few days before the waterfall was very powerful, but it didn’t stop me going for a long swim and trying to get under the waterfall itself. It’s amazing the power that nature has and only being up-close to a waterfall like this do you really appreciate it.
It’s interesting how you can see a place in a totally different light from when you first arrive. Driving around and having the freedom to explore hidden spots that are a little off the map helps you create a connection and shape your overall impressions of a place. Here are a few pictures that I took of the waterfall and the surrounding streams close to it, it was a nice experience to swim in this natural freshwater and is one that I highly recommend for anyone coming to visit this area. You won't be disappointed.

That looks like an absolute blast! Were you the only ones there?
Yeah, at first it was just two of us. After a while a few others came. The weather was on and off so probably why. Thanks for commenting.
I love just sitting and watching or listening to waterfalls. I always find such a peacefulness when I stare at the tumbling down water.
