Travel Diary : Jeju Island 2018, Day 1 (Jeju International Airport & Yongduam Dragon Head Rock) Part 1
Introduction
Read my old post of "Partially Solo Trip" post here to get s sneak peek of what I did in Jeju Island! This post below will be a detailed guide and some tips on what to take note on. I've separated into parts in order to make it easier to be read! The total cost of this trip is MYR3000 inclusive of two-way direct flight, transportation, accommodation, all entry fees and food.
Day 1 Itinerary
Jeju International Airport (Part 1)
Yongduam Dragon Head Rock (Part 1)
Mysterious Road (Part 2)
Biwon Ginseng Chicken Porridge (Part 2)
Strolling around Ildoi-Dong (Part 3)
Hotel RegentMarine (Part 3)
Jeju International Airport
Location: 2 Gonghang-ro, Cheju, Jeju-do, South Korea (Code: CJU)
A sunny afternoon is a sign of good weather! After a long 6 hours of direct flight from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA 2) to Jeju International Airport, we can finally stretch our body and check our phones for Free Wifi! The airport isn't super glamorous and big. Well, one thing for sure is that the airport is clean.
Self -Trip Guide:
If you are heading to Jeju without a Tour, I would strongly suggest renting a car for the trip because most of the places that are worth visiting are pretty far from each other. For Malaysians, the cheapest car that you can rent in Jeju is about MYR100 per day (not including insurance) from Kereta Sewa Jeju. Heard that it's the cheapest price you can get on the Internet.
Yongduam Dragon Rock Head
Location: 15 Yongduam-gil, Yongdam 2(i)-dong, Cheju, Jeju-do, South Korea
Yongduam Dragon is roaring towards the sea, trying to wake the sea Kaiju from its deep sleep... Yongduam Dragon Rock Head is 10 minutes drive from the International Airport. Of course, we were excited to see something different from what we are used to in Malaysia. Everyone on the tour was looking out from the bus window and we were amazed by the blue sea and the Cherry Blossom.
The Platform (where we took our group photo) is the most common place to look at the Dragon Head Rock. Most probably is to cater to those elderly and the ones who have difficulty walking up a number of flights of steps. For a better view of the dragon like in the first image, find your way to the stairs that lead you down, most probably you can already see it while looking out at the first platform.
More excitement in your way when you are adventurous enough to find your way to try some raw seafood! Walk along the stones and you'll see a small marketplace with stools and people eating with joy. I ordered Abalone and to be shared with the photographer because I wasn't adventurous enough to do it alone. Well, raw abalone is freshly cut and served, the texture is soft but it's crunchy, I like chewing it.
Ordering what you want may give you a hard time. Either you master your body language, pointing skills, and your facial expression, or try pointing at what you want, and ask the price in Mandarin Language. No worries about price scamming because there's a price board behind them, all pricing is fixed.
Pricing
- 20,000 won @ Raw Abalone
- 30,000 won @ Raw Octopus
Self-Trip Guide:
There's quite a number of street stalls for you to buy some snacks to munch near the first platform, so no worries about going hungry after the 6 hours flight. There are plenty of parking space for your car. Across the road, you can walk around to see some local shops open nearby.
EndNote
One of my favourite photo with the Cherry Blossom. I think my Blue hair manage to stand out so well! Thank You Glam Suitcase Travels for organizing this trip and making sure that we won't miss the cherry blossom. Stay Tuned with more adventure in Jeju Island! Thank You!

Just finish reading your “Partially Solo trip” post. Ughhh i envy you... jeju island is one of my top travel destination in my bucket list. I wonder how much is the budget for a group tour like that.
This group tour is only MYR3000 including flight, food, transport, accommodation and all entrance fees. I think the price is fair enough because Jeju itself isn't cheap. I Brought about 370MYR & it wasnt enough for personal spending.
Noooo don't envy I feel bad now :(
woo that's actually quite reasonable. Would it be cheaper if you go on a trip arranged on your own?
I calculated the price, it can be cheaper if you go with a group of 4, but not solo.
Price can be divided for accommodation, food (big portion, share with friends), transport (taxi or car rental), petrol (car rent).
The currency now is 3.7 MYR = 1,000 won.
Koreans treats 1,000 won like how we treat our 1 MYR. Not cheap. Therefore, be calculative in the whole trip :P
Oh wow!! You went to jeju! One of my dream destination. You look awesome too with your blue hair ❤by the way,I was able to make a funsign for you. here's the link to it 😊https://steemit.com/funsigns/@enjieneer/funsign-requests-batch-1
