TRAVEL: HOW TO TRAVEL AT ZERO COSTS LIKE A BOSS | FOR THE STRONG ONES

in #travel6 years ago

Hello mighty readers! How are you? Do you want to travel cheap like a boss?

Rain is back and unstoppable in southern Brazil, that's winter, I have to accept. Also, I'd like to give you a break from the Travel Stories, those posts can become quite long, I know, so releasing one of those every day is out of question.

With that in mind... why not teaching the monsters how to travel as cheap as possible, or better, totally for free?

No, I won't ask you to call 0800 to purchase the "Travel Like a Homeless Ultimate Version Master Manual". This is the blockchain and I shall tell you my hidden secrets at an upvote maybe zero cost.

Are you ready?

I may have given you valuable tips on two different posts, plus a lot of info on many others.

TRAVEL: HOW TO HITCHHIKE LIKE A BOSS - Here I gave you some tips on how you can move at zero cost.

TRAVEL: CREATIVE TIPS TO EARN MONEY - On this one we talked about some uncommon ideas to generate some income.

How about the rest? Shower? Washing Clothes? Sleeping?

Solving these everyday tasks on the road may be way too costy and complicated for those who are not open to become a true wanderer. Only if you could see how simple it is!

Use What Nature Offers

Most places in this world of ours are somehow safe, southern Argentina and Chile (Patagônia) being my favourites. It's important to keep in mind that the wildest the place, the better! For a true wanderer, cities are usually a big problem. So, if you want to go crazy and wander without money for comfort, avoid cities.

On the other side, nature has everything you'll need to travel - hidden places to sleep, or you can sleep in the middle of a farm, no one cares; rivers and lakes to collect water; you can maybe fish; you can jump inside a river to take a shower. It has no limits when you are brave enough.

Washing Clothes?

Rivers, lakes, anywhere! Make sure you are using biodegradable soap and you should be fine, if you can rinse your clothes away from the water source, the better. It's not like your tiny amount of soap will destroy the ecosystem, a city or industrys will though.

Pro Tip: If you have one of those dry bags, put your clothes inside with water and soap and seal it. Now you can shake until you get tired, tadaaaaam, clean clothes at zero cost.

Washing clothes somewhere in this world.

Accommodations?

Do you have a tent? Sleeping bag? Then you have unlimited free shelter. Chose a place and voila.

I like to go for tows' outskirts when in relatively safe places. Avoid big cities, as I said! The first nights sleeping like that will be terrifying, but you'll get used to it.

Pro Tip: Placing a tent in a farm won't harm anyone, in most cases the land owner will not even know that you passed the night on his property. If you see a house nearby, asking for permission doesn't hurt. I'm sure they'll not only give you permission, but in most cases people will invite you to their homes if you are cool enough. Don't be afraid to use a tent on your trip!

Now if it's a big citie I'd go for couchsurfing or airports/bus stations or any other place with security - Fire departaments, police offices, churches. Ask anywhere!

Sleeping in a huge farm.

Shower?

Ahhh, this is a tricky one! If you are in a cold weather situation, jumping in a river is out of question, unless you are Russian. But... do you really need a shower? My record was 10 days without a shower, only changing clothes and cleaning the 'important' parts. Believe me, you'll be fine.

Now, if the desire is really strong, or if you had passed the previous 10 days without a shower, go and jump in a lake! Make sure to be careful to where you jump and don't be stupid to get hypothermia. Common sense always!

Pro Tip: Rivers, lakes, rain. You'll be in the middle of nowhere, who cares. Show the world that butt and jump in, your body and soul will thank you.

Crystal clear river shower 5 stars.

As you may be thinking, this all sounds easy when you read, but keep in mind that I'm as normal as you. I think so.

One day everything sounded insane to me and impossible to reach, until I gave the first, and hardest, move. In the beginning it'll be terrifying to have so much freedom in your hands, sleeping will not be easy. However, you'll realise how simple it is, and that my friend, that is when the fun begins.

I hope that his Travel Like a Homeless Ultimate Version Master Manual has inspired you somehow, or at least made you laugh on this Friday night. Don't be afraid, the world doesn't bite! A great weekend for you, bye.

Awesome tips Arthur! I especially love those natural ones for true wanderers :D Have tried some myself already. I agree that nature has everything we need - as long as we step outside of the comfort zone of our pampered city lifestyle... Safe travels amigo!

That's what I tell people, @phortun! Once they step outside and see that there's no mistery; there's no come back.

My legs are currently tingling to get out of my flat again. Soon, hopefully!

Grande presença, obrigado!

10 days ......
I never heard of wash bags, does it really clean clothes like that?

Ahaha yeah, quite nasty, I wont deny, @livinguktaiwan.

So, do you know those Sea-to-Summit dry bags? They are meant to be waterproof, to protect whatever is inside. However, once the water can't enter the bag, it can't get out either, if you fill it with water. Then you just fill it with some clothes you need to wash, put soap and shake it. Works quite good.

I've done a lot of bathing in wild water, and I love it! What you describe sounds like an amazing amount of freedom. :)

Have you? isn't it the best kind of bath? That kinda o freedom can be dangerous, it's addicting.

Epic @czechglobalhosts! You always surprise me when I don't think I have a chance, thank you so much.

I Absolutely agree.. It's so easy to travel at low cost! You just have to see and use the nature opportunities!

That's what I'm talking about, people are overly obsessed with a providing system. Once we discover that we don't need to pay for some services, it becomes easier to travel.

ok I'm not traveling at low costs, but I don't need much money nevertheless... and especially not many things..
