.....and this is why you should visit CANADA!

in #travel8 years ago (edited)

Living within the "concrete jungle", one must find peace and tranquility in nature. I mean if you don't, then how do you unwind?! I suppose everyone has their own way. But I KNOW, for myself, I NEED mother nature. I need to swim in her lakes, rivers and seas. I must run through her forests, beaches and jungles. I want to be wowed by her beauty and freedom.

And just for a moment I forget that I don't have a job or responsibilities back home in the city.

Anyway, that was my hippie rant.

So, my friend Danielle and I decided to get the fuck outta the hood and fly up North to good ol' CANADA!!!!

My adventure homie, Danielle, and I decided we needed crisp air, turquoise waters and some beautiful mountains. And that is how we decided on Canada. We had it all planned out: we would backpack through the wilderness, setup camp and swim all day. We would live in the wild for seven days and be self sufficient women.

Instead, we arrived in Canada while it was snowing and realized that we were complete dumbasses for not checking the weather. Oh well, we are great improvisers. We decided to search for a weed dealer instead and score some sweet Canadian weed.

***found one at a music festival*** ***Que the celebration music!!!***

Now that we had finished that task, we decided to figure out what we were gonna do about being homeless for the rest of the trip. There was no way we were gonna camp in the snow with the gear we brought. Soooo we decided to rent a car and sleep in it instead. We always come up with the best plan.

We traveled all over Canada and visited the national parks. We drove through the Rocky Mountains and stumbled upon frozen lakes, icy rivers and snowy mountains. Then suddenly, around the corner, there would be turquoise waters with flowers and sunshine. The scenery was unreal and we were in awe. We vowed we would revisit these lands and swim in these majestic waters once again.

We would park our car at the most beautiful place we had seen that day and would sleep there overnight. Then, the next morning, it would be the first thing we would see when we woke up. Plus, it was snowing, so it was even better. We lived off of pineapple jam sandwiches and ginger beer. We smoked a joint every time we saw one of these majestic lakes. And trust me, there are a lot of them. It is AWESOME.

We were having so much fun that we ended up getting in trouble by 4 cops in one day for:

1. $400 speeding ticket ... this really sucked.

2. I threw a BBQ potato chip to a goat (apparently you cannot feed the wildlife).

3. Sleeping in our car, also known as "illegal camping". BUT BUMS DO IT ALL THE TIME?!??!?!?

4. Smoking weed in the national park

After this, we decided to rent a hotel for our last night and drink wine, safely inside the hotel.  All in all, it was an amazing trip and the scenery was breathtaking. We will definitely go again. Here are some photos I have from our trip. I tried to capture a bit of the beauty. Enjoy :)

"THE ADVENTURES OF KETCHUP AND MUSTARD!"

Lake Minnewanka: standing in front of this was unreal.

Look at these beautiful waters we woke up to!

Me: harassing this pretty tree, as usual :)

We bring our kaleidoscope glasses everywhere we go. You never know when you're gonna want to see something 50 times at once >_<

We also slept here, in front of Lake Louise. It is frozen over in this photo and it was freakin freezing here. But so beautiful and crisp.

A frozen lake. So pretty....

I actually got a little brave and walked on the frozen lake. Then Danielle scared me, saying it was gonna break.

We walked through this trail for a very long time.....it was so peaceful.

 A train passing by.....

We found this secret garden by accident.....

We are strange.

Probably the coldest I have ever been.

Mermaid lagoon.

The sun came out for a bit :)

BANFF looks like a fairytale land....

I am soaking in the beauty all around me :)

You rock!!! Hope you enjoyed :)
