Part 4: The Packing List Revisited After One Year of Travel, Why I am Carrying My Rock Collection Through Latin America and Other Tools of Self-Sustainability

in #travel6 years ago

When I began solo traveling exactly a year ago this week I only had $1,000.

After 4 months that money was all gone.

Before I get going on all that I want to offer you
an opportunity to catch up a little with who I am and what I'm doing.

When I first began my journey last year I made a 5 part blog
documenting everything I am carrying with me.

PART 5 My Packing List: What I am Bringing On My Epic Journey Through Latin America

Within this blog are the links to Parts 1- 4

This blog is Part 4 of 4 so the links to Parts 1 - 3 are as follows:

Since I was never delusional enough to believe $1.000 would be enough money to sustain me through two to three years of traveling I planned ahead.
Because I am 53 years old and a bit of a Renaissance woman I have accumulated a lot of skills over my lifetime.

I have so many skills I can easily market myself through a variety of venues.

As an anthropologist it's exciting to merge into a broad spectrum of possible interactions with "the people" of wherever I might be traveling. Utilizing my skills can get me through some interesting doors.

Any true craftsperson will tell you that the right tools for the job is everything.

Below is my video telling you about my tools and what I do with them.

Okay, so, I know that video ended weird.

Several days ago I had been thinking I want a source for raw milk.
A few days later I was hitchhiking into town.
Some old Ticos

(that's what they call Costa Ricans)

pulled over and I hopped into the back of their rickety old jeep and holy buh-geezus, right in the back with me was an
overflowing crate of bottled, fresh from the teet milk.

I made arrangements for them to bring me milk but
I was unclear as to when they would come therefore I had been
watching the gate everyday since Monday.
When they arrived I was so excited.
I paid for one gallon 2500 colones. That's equivalent to $5.00 in the USA.
In California, about 5 years ago I paid $9.00 for
a half gallon plus a 30 minute drive into the mountains.

Alrightty then, back to the topic at hand

My tools I am carrying are:

  • my chef and paring knives
  • tarot and oracle cards
  • Seamstress scissors

I've enjoyed many, many experiences but it's rare for me to get photos of myself that aren't selfies.
My next blog is yet undetermined but I promise it will be very compelling.

I got many more fun-believable experiences,

    and amazing photography,

My stories are continuously unfolding as I continue my unique journey south.

It was great to see your video. Wow one year already!
I love the ending of the video 😂

Yeah, the ending was funny...totally spontaneous. Great to see you replying and following.

Now I'm working on manifesting a round trip plane ticket home to the Garden of Eden @gardenofeden for their final grand event. Before I began traveling I was the manager of all things food.

The community is on the market and a documentary film producer is coming. Someone out there is going to support me for this hugely important event.

In our world this is as important as a huge family wedding is in the world of other people.

Lots of steemy Steem to you. Hugs.❤️
