Acapulco Adventures: Parque Merle Oberon in Costa Azul

in #travel6 years ago

I went on an adventure into the city to the central market by myself yesterday and I stopped at this park in Costa Azul known as the Parque Merle Oberon just behind the famous church in Costa Azul. We've driven by many times with the intention of checking it out and I decided to do so and take some photos while I looked for a paid public bathroom I knew was likely inside.

It's a government park with buildings that offer various types if discounted services on various days.

There's a lot of basketball played in this park.

Gotta love giant tropical trees.

I call this....remnants of a Mexican. An empty milk carton and half empty Valentinos' hot sauce bottle likely left from someone's lunch.

The short tree there is known as a nance tree, one common here that grows on my property and drops little yellow fruit popular with children. I've made a tea with the leaves that helps with arthritis.

I'm actually surprised at how much Mexicans are hip on the organic/inorganic trash thing. There aren't many compost piles but they do know to separate it.

The mom and kid you see in the photos above actually rode down with me in the same collectivo. We got out at different spots and still ended up at the same park somehow.

Ah the bathrooms I hoped and dreamed for. There are plenty of public bathrooms here in Mexico but something I didn't consider before coming here was the fact that you'd have to pay for most bathrooms you use. 5 pesos is generally the cost but sometimes it's three.
