When To Get Away

We are all toiling away for something. Happiness. Money. Satisfaction. Freedom. Whatever the object is it will require work that may take a toll on your health in the process of obtaining it. Yes even the things we actually enjoy. Still dealing with sickness and then feeling the onslaught of screen lag, I made a decision to escape for a bit. I needed to get my eyes away from the screen and onto miles and miles of nature. We have to sometimes force ourselves to get way or otherwise our bodies will force us to instead. I have been in the position before where my body literally forced me to get away. It's called burnout. I have made up in my mind to not go back there, so I chose to escape instead.

But when do I get away? When you are starting to be more frustrated and upset than not then it's time. When working becomes your idol then it's time. When your health take a turn for the worse then it's time. You have to do you own self inventory in order to answer these questions. I encourage you to step away for a bit to regain some energy and refocus if you are in this situation. I feel much better now that I did that and it is back to my work and continuing to live out my purpose. If this is you I hope you would do the same if for nothing else but for the sake of your sanity. Much love.

Do you need to escape for a bit?

Do you enjoy the work you do?

Have you ever been burned out before?

Wow thanks for this amazing post and reminder. Apart from going after all the good things of life, we should also ensure we have a good life and health. I just felt I should add this little tip.

There are some cardiovascular diseases around, like Stroke, and this actually doesn't start in a day. One must have been undergoing the risk factors over time, like excessive intake of cholesterol and saturated fat, excessive intake of raw salt, little or no exercise at all, Stress and excess intake of analgesics.

One must have also been experiencing sysptoms like anginal pectoris, perputation,Insomnia, numness of hands and feet, profuse sweating and constant dizziness. But when one doesn't take note and take care of all these, at the long-run, the end result is Stroke. And not only stroke, even artherioslerosis, coronary heart disease and heart-attack and so many others.

The simple preventive measures to all of these are Rest, Exercise and Diet.

Thanks for this beautiful post once again @humanearl

The domino effect. I will remember that

#smiles. Thank you

Do you need to escape for a bit?

Definitely yes. From time to time you need to give yourself a full rest. I think that being away from the daily bustle, a person charges his inner energy. It is best to spend time in nature.
I like what I do, but sometimes it's worth distracting. I like what I do, but sometimes it's worth resting. Good and productive work should be accompanied by the same good rest. Otherwise, there is a risk of "burn out".

Have you ever been burned out before?

Yes it happened to me. It feels like you feel very tired and depressed. Hard work brings us to the critical point and after this there is this unpleasant feeling and the state from which it is difficult to get rid of. If you do not do anything with it, then apathy can develop to everything around you. Burnout is something that should be avoided. Sooner or later, many face this. I think that this is a serious problem for modern people. So sometimes it's better to stop and give yourself time to rest. Do not allow burnout to become a horny and permanent condition.
Work in moderation and do not forget about rest. And most important is a positive attitude.

The balance between overwork and rest is a think line. I think it's crazy how all this technology was supposed to make life easier. It has but at the same time it has caused more stress and worry.

Man thanks for these words. It lifts me.

Get that break, man. Can't go without a rest forever. Glad you were able to take some time away. Hopefully you're feeling better and are recharged for the work ahead.

Yeah, I've gotten burned out before. Like you, I enjoy getting into nature, and when I do, it resets me. I'm able to go back and do more than I could before because I've been refreshed.

Recharge complete. You doing ok?

Good! And yeah, I'm doing fine. Been making progress getting through my list of things to do. That's been helping. It's been a lot of fighting through the burnout because things need to get done, but I'm doing well. Thanks for asking. :)

Good for you man. If you ever need to talk on a personal level. I'm on discord @HumanEarl

Thanks, man. Same here. I'm @themanwithnoname.

I often feel burned out. Thats why i try to change a lot in my life.

The possibility to earning my living trough art is a big motivation which always fires my enery up again.

Man you are an amazing artist. Every time I see your work it is inspiring. I hope doors open for your soon.

So do you only work on your art now or do you also have a traditional job?

Thank you for this kind words.

I worked lately as a removal man but quit because of feeling burned out and because of back pain. I work now in opportunity jobs but main focus is on trying to establish myself as a graphicdesigner.

There are so many unbelivible good artists out there and sometimes it look very dark for me. But how you said? Fight for what you love right? :)

Right! There's room for you as well. Be patient and stay at it. I believe in you.

I will be patient and i feel that i have more to share. Thank you!

At some point of human life, we get burned out, and what should be done next is to escape for a bit or take a break. It's now left for individual to decide on how he/she should take a break.
This is very important because, this would prevent sudden break down (maybe physically or mentally) and at end one is refreshed to be more efficient and thinking is done better!
Please do take very good care of yourself and we trust you to find a way out our dear friend!
A question I actually forgot to ask, on that post which gave room for us to ask you personal questions, please permit me to ask now:
What's your real name?

Simple. It's Earl. Hence my screen name. It means chieftan in the English language. I would love to know what my name means in an African language though.

You meant chieftain, right?
Chieftain is translated as:

  • Oloye (Yoruba/Nigeria).
  • Gidan (Hausa/Nigeria).
At least, I know these two up there.
Earl is indeed an adorable & beautiful name, would love to name a male child of mine, Earl.

That's dope. I knew someone named Aloye but I don't know if it means chieftain.

Hey brotha. I know the feeling. It is good to just get out and decompress and let your mind be free from the screen. can totally relate.

Hey are you in discord? My name is dnews in there :)

God bless you

Yepp I'm on discord. Just sent you a request. Thanks for the response too. I love your work man.

"Have you ever been burned out before?"

Yes! Too much lately... I even wrote something on that few days back if you'd like to check it out. I love the going away part, wish i could whenever i wanted, to clear out and start afresh!

I agree, it redeems sanity. I love your way of unwinding. I want you back 100%, so please take care of you. Have a fun time away!

Let me go check that out. Sorry I plan on getting around to peopl's pages again soon but I have been ridiculously busy. Thanks for letting me know what your wrote. Also thanks sis for the encouragement.

No that's totally fine. You deserve more.. People like you kill my excuses and keep me burning my fuel gladly on steemit.

@humanearl, Absolutely brilliant philosophy discussion here. Peoples must require to working process for take money, happiness, satisfaction and wealth. We very tired with our busy working. We all need a little rest and relaxation once in awhile. And, more importantly, taking a break is a good thing. Some studies show that increased vacation time can actually boost your workplace productivity. Many people desperately pine for a vacation all year long, hoping to finally escape the stress of work. I met lot of foreign travelers in my country and ask them, why you travel around. I'm no surprise their answer. They want only stress free with see nature locations. In fact, Nature gives up massive opportunity to relax our busy mind.

Do you enjoy the work you do?

I'm never love every aspect of your work. Decide how we will approach our job in a way that maximizes the time and energy that us expand on those tasks or goals.

Have you ever been burned out before?

Yep..seriously burned out with ma working before and currently as the same. When I burn out at work, I feel diminished, like a part of myself has gone into hiding.

I believe that rest in spurts can increase productivity. There's truth in that. We can't work forever non-stop.

Burnout is no fun at all. I wish for your recovery. Please get your mind and body some rest. I know the feeling.

@humanearl,
Actually I am not enjoying from what I am doing! But I am working to make a better future! My purpose is leaving the job in 2020! To make that dream true I am trying my best on STEEMIT and in RL as well!
For me, I feel enough now!

Cheers~

Keep at it. I have a quote for you that is my favorite:

It's true that we need a rest sometimes, better yet everyday. Take time to have a rest for a better health. Let's not abuse ourselves in the sense that we're overworking, over thinking, because if you do you'll be stressed out and worse you'll get sick. So better yet, have time to relax our mind and body in order for us to have a healthy living.

Thanks @humanearl for this reminder article. 😇

Oh and I know that feeling all too well. Thanks for the reminder.
