Consider Lisboa for your next citytrip. You'll love it 💙

As I am a big fan of travelling and learning new countries and cultures, citytripping is a great way to do this.

On a recent citytrip I went to Lisboa and ohhhh boy, I fell in love with this city. This city is full of everything!

In 1755 the city was greatly damaged by a heavy earthquake and years later Marques de Pombal started rebuilding the city. The whole city is a piece of art with great buildings and beautiful patterned squares and streets.

One of the characteristics of Lisboa are the trams. These trams go all across the city and are a fun thing to experience, but Lisboa is pretty easy to see just by walking. When you are tired and dont want to go up another steep street, then try out one of the several lifts called ascendor or elevador.

After doing all that walking it is time for some good food. Lisboa is known for there pastries called Pastéis de Nata or Pastéis de Belém.

Fresh fish is also a speciality of Lisboa and you will find many great restaurants. Besides fresh fish you can also find a lot of canned fish, most of the times in wonderful decorated or packed cans.

Once in Lisboa you should try to fit in a trip to Sintra, being one of the most beautiful and interesting places in Portugal. Sintra is a delightful Portuguese town that lies 25km to the west of Lisboa and makes for a popular day trip from the capital. Lisboa and Sintra are connected by a reliable and inexpensive train service. You can also go by car and park near a couple of higlights, but do note there is not many parking availability in Sintra.

If you even have some more time visiting Troía is a great way to see some of the beautiful beaches of Portugal. It is about a 45 minute drive to Sétubal. When driving to Sétibal you cross the bridge called Ponte 25 de Abril, a copy of the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco. Once arrived in Sétubal you can not miss out on the local speciality called Choco Frito, while waiting on the ferry to Troía. You can just leave your car at the parking in Sétubal and after arriving in Troía it is just a short walk to the beach.

Have a wonderful day!

Sad that here in the U.S. most people are afraid to go abroad especially to a country where English is not the language I love this quote.
"One doesn't discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time."
Andre Gide

I noticed this a lot when I was in the US. Many people I talked to were amazed when I told them where we already went in the US and other countries. Most of them never even went out of the state they live in. It is a shame actually, because there is so much beauty to see in this world.

Nice quote btw! Will follow you! Follow back is appreciated :)

True! Sad! Thanks for following. You have already been being followed by @anotervoice. Nice reply thanks.

Wow! Is that Sintra with the colorful castles and the stone steps? I need to go there!

Personally I don't like Lisbon that much and Setúbal even less haha. I like Porto and the Spanish region of Galicia more :) That's further up north.

But if you're in the Lisbon area, you should also visit the old Moorish castle in Sesimbra. It's build by the Arabians that invaded the Iberian Peninsula during the Middle-Ages. You can walk over the walls and take a look inside the castle as well. Here is a picture I took two years ago.

Yes, the castle and stepstones are all in Sintra. Must visit!

Thanks for the tips. Now I definitely have a reason to go back!

Looks like you had a great time. I'll be going to Portugal flying out of Buenes Aires near the end of the year. How were the people and the culture? Anything I should take into consideration or be cautious of. I too write about my travels and offer tips for a better experience without breaking the bank. I just started my steemit blog, feel free to check it out.

Yes, had a great time indeed. Most of the people are very kind and in for a talk. Not everyone speaks english, but thats the charme of a country I like to think. Nothing special to take caution for, except the typical things like staying away from scary streets late at night all alone, just like in almost every big city.

I will check your account and start following. Following back is appreciated :)

awwww man your really firing up the travel bug in me!

@teamhumble Totally missed your reaction! Sorry for the late response. Did the travelbug in the mean time tickled you enough to buy a plainticket? 😉
