Boating On The Passamaquoddy Bay In Maine

in #travel7 years ago

Spectacular Passamaquoddy Bay

This is a beautiful bay and a boaters paradise. It is a small inlet inside the Bay of Fundy. The Bay of Fundy is one of the Natural Wonders of the World.  The  strategic location of Passamaquoddy Bay between the United State's state of Maine and Canada's Province of  New Brunswick makes it a playground for adventure lovers. All this beauty can be found at the mouth of the St. Croix River.

The name of this spectacular bay comes from the Passamaquoddy language. These people of the First Nation, Passamaquoddy, live both in Maine and New Brunswick. In Canada, the tribe has it's own government but as yet to achieve First Nation classification. In Maine, the tribe is able to send a Representative to the State House and present bills effecting the tribe, though they do not have voting power. Their Representative can, however, co-sponsor bills in the State House

Fishing was extremely important among the Passamaquoddy of both Nations. They generally fished using spears or fishing nets. The name, Passamaquoddy, means  "those of the place where Pollock are plentiful"

This is an adventure lovers playground among the two nations. Just imagine what you can do and see by boat. Remember, if you are a US citizen, you will need a valid Canadian passport to enter Canadian waters.

Great photo and info! I'd love to build a following like yours. My posts don't get much attention, although I am slowly growing some followers, it doesn't seem like they are all online at the same time.

Thanks for sharing! You are one of my fellow travelers and I hope to be able to gather as much attention as you do one day :)

Thank you @evolved08gsr Just keep building your following over time. We have been here for over a year, and started with a test account @vetvso last year. So it takes time, and a little work.

Yup, I will definitely keep at it! As long as I am posting valuable and interesting content, I am hopeful/confident that the followers will come :)

Beautiful! This looks like a great place to go!:) Please check my little journey that I made soon. I hope you enjoy my photos. @nakedchef89

This was interesting to read about! But how do you know when you crossed the border in the water? Is it like anchored signs on something there, or do you need to use GPS?

Thank you @valth We use GPS and there is some markings.

Ah, cool! Thanks for replying to my question ;)

That looks like a plentiful area. The Passamaquoddy(what a unique name) knew a good thing when they had it. So much occurring in that area geographically and ecologically speaking. Good post and beautiful capture @exploretraveler.
