My Crypto Portfolio Is About 90% Steem - Dangerous Or Is Steem That Good Of An Investment?

in #trading7 years ago

So, about 90% of my investments in Cryptocurrency (which means, not including Stocks, Business Investments, and other investment vehicles) are in Steem (converted to Steem Power right now). Now, note that I'm not saying 90% of all my money, because you should never invest more than you can afford to lose, which I haven't. However, I believe in Steem (and all the associated DApps built on the Steem Blockchain, including Steemit, DTube, DLive, etc.) so much that I'm fully confident that it is a great choice. Some might call me crazy, but I think that Steem is that powerful and will revolutionize both the Blockchain Industry and the Social Media Industry. Now, the Blockchain Industry is still so young that disruption and revolution are expected and likely with a product as powerful as Steemit and a Blockchain as great as Steem.

The Social Media Industry, however, is NOT NEW and so disruption is much more difficult and much more revolutionary. Steemit is already beginning to disrupt and I think that it could turn the Industry on its head. This is Facebook on the ground floor, in terms of investment potential. It is actually probably closer to Facebook, YouTube, Netflix, and Amazon on the Ground Floor, because the introduction of SMTs, as well as the DApps already being built on the Steem Blockchain all have features that are similar but utilizing the revolutionary model for monetization that has proven itself a very effective and powerful mechanism. Steemit is a quintessential disruption platform and Steem is a quintessential disruption technology. Kids will learn about it in school in the future. Colleges will learn about it in Comp Sci/Finance/Law/Politics Study in the near future, if they have any sense of the cutting edge at the school.

I'll continue to increase my Steem Power while it is cheap and believe me when I call it cheap right now. It is a doorbuster sale below $5, a sale that I won't miss. Steem should be a top-10 Market Cap Cryptocurrency, like it was about a year ago. Steem is the most used Blockchain and it is growin exponentially. Steemit.Com is one of the most used websites in the entire world, but still has spots to move up, it being around 1000th in the world currently and 500th in the USA. Steem integration into stores is increasing; wordpress plugins are being built to bring it to the average, non-dev tech enthusiasts, sign up is being overhauled to make it easier for users to get on our site even with the high-flying demand that is occurring for access, and so many other innovations and improvements are occurring on a regular basis. The loyalty of Steemians to the vision of the platform is amazing as well. Steemit is the future of Social Media so it isn't a crazy investment to put 90% of my cryptocurrency wealth into Steem Power. It is a calculated risk and one that will pay off. We will see $10 in 2018. We may see $20 in 2018. We may see $100 before 2020. This is my prediction.

AS ALWAYS, WISHES OF WEALTH AND HEALTH FOR ALL! :)

I like it! 100% of my investments are in gold, silver, mining stocks, and cryptos.. so i like to live dangerously myself. But I believe that's where the value is right now.. the broad stock market is overvalued in my opinion. And yes I believe we will see $100 Steem

Great choices for sure. I'm in a couple of mining stocks myself and have a very modest amount of gold and silver (that's my insurance against a market collapse, as is crypto)! :)

That’s smart. Miners have been terrible lately, I haven’t given up though.. they should catch up with the metal

When someone is betting 90% of ones portfolio on a single crypto, he definitely sees value in it. Well it has risks, but calculated risks.
When I joined steemit last year I too had great belief in the community, and was betting big on steem.
But later on I discovered how the whales are using it just for their own well being and caring nothing for the community and development of steem.

I DEFINITELY see HUGE value in it! Potentially unlimited if it is done right! You're absolutely right that there are some issues with the way some whales are acting on the platform, which is why it is important that we support minnows and dolphins with the vision of a fairer Steemit! SMTs will also help to deal with these issues, as it could cause redistribution based on the merit of a user's ideas. :)

Well I respect your views and also the measure you are suggesting. The community desperately needs people like you. I am by your side in this.
Even I see great potential in steem, but only if people play fair. I attended Blockchain Asia Expo this year, and you would be amazed to know that a few speakers talked about steem as well. The possibilities are endless but only with right application.

I have seen you writing great articles but none of them get rewareded, and on the other hand when I open the trending articles I see shitty posts earning hundreds of dollars. If we can change this I think nothing can stop steem.

Thanks for appreciating my work, but I still believe that someday this will change.
Together we can make it happen.

I already 80% saving in steem..

Sounds ultra risky if you ask me

Thanks for joining the convo! It is definitely a risk, I won't deny that! I think that the pieces are coming together though, so I feel very confident about it. Like I said too, I'm also not putting 90% of all my money, just the money that I have put in Crypto, which isn't by any means money I can't afford to lose. I think everything is soon going to come into place (assuming no technical issues in the SMT release) in the very near future and I think Steem is about to rocket back up. I also am in a good spot, because I got in most of mine when it was around $1-2 per Steem. :)

I see your point, SMTs would be game changing if it's executed properly. Am however worried about the timing of the release, there are so many new blockchain projects coming up, I wouldn't be surprised if there are one or more other teams working on a similar concept.

Yeah, EOS is the main worry I have. They know Steem intimately and their is A LOT OF MONEY backing them. I actually wrote about my concerns on that a bit ago, since we were supposed to see the SMT release in Q1 2018, which is essentially done and Ned's comments have made it pretty clear through implication that they won't meet that deadline. The community has made it clear that they aren't pleased (although supportive) that it is going to take a little longer, so I think @ned will step it up. But it is definitely a race to some degree. The advantage we have even though it is a race though is the already existing user base! :)

you cant go wrong with steem

Too risky from my point of view. Putting all your eggs in one basket can end great ... but you can also loose a lot. Too many whales that can influence the price.

Thanks for the input! There are definitely those who would consider what I'm doing ludicrous and I do generally try to diversify (and it is a good practice; I am very diversified with my stock investing, for example). But, I just think the skyrocket is too imminent for me to slowly accumulate while diversifying here right now!

I have a lot of hope that the STEEM currency will rise much before 2020.

its a little bit risky but if one have patience and self confidence he can do every thing. i hope the future of crypto currency will be brighter ..so you should be stick to your commitments.thanks for sharing...

I agree 100%. I don't exactly have the major cash to make a killing but have completely switched over to blogging exclusively on steemit. My intention is to build a good profile and build from within the platform. I agree investing in this platform is risky, but potentially lucrative.

I see steemit as having the potential to take over both youtube and facebook for sure. Once you get facebook then instagram goes down....

I have been on here for a year now and totally get it. BUT.... I am concerned a bit about steemit reaching critical mass to explode just like you say. I have been looking into some of the stats and it appears the user- base isn't as strong as I would like (LOTS of accounts but a smaller percentage of regular users) in addition to removing barriers of entry to the platform.

I do not find blockchain to be intuitively friendly to the common user, which is what we need to bring more of into the platform to reach critical mass. I will stick with it though. The most dramatic growth I see happening on steemit this year is a TON of youtubers coming over to D-Tube their material. I do believe that will be an opportunity for critical mass conversions.

Thanks a bunch for the past. Love your stuff and have a great day.

Yeah, a surplus of regular users is very important and I think it is fair to say that many come specifically to try and make a killing and then give up soon after if they don't. In that sense, it is a lot like YouTube; content creators, a lot of the time, will start making videos there and when they don't immediately get a bunch of subscribers, they abandon ship. DTube is wondeful as well too and one of the main values (as well as DLive), since it is a less saturated alternative to YouTube, which is transparent as well. This gives a huge opportunity for it to take some YouTube market share, assuming they can ensure a quality User Experience and seamless technical functionality. :)

You also make a great point with people's fear/confusion surrounding getting paid in crypto. Many are extremely intimidated at the thought of having to convert it to bitcoin/some other major exchange coin and then to cash. The closer we can get to seamless conversion between Steem and USD, the easier it will be for people and the less intimidating it will be. Education is also a great tool that can be used, because if we can spread awareness and enthusiasm, less people will feel uninformed and confused.

Thanks for your support and I hope that we both have great success on here! :)

@biddle is cardano a good investment or should I find some new altcoin ... Is there any long-term target that you see cardano achieving by the end of this year..... Keep g stemming

Hi @steem.world, although I've learned a bit about cardano, I haven't done enough research to really make a very informed decision! Sorry!
