BORIS Johnson and Jeremy Hunt are the final two remaining candidates in the battle for Number 10 after Micheal Gove was knocked out of the race.

Johnson and Hunt will now face 160,000 Tory members across the country who will decide who will become Britain's first 'directly elected' Prime Minister and the result will be announced around July 22.

The vice chair of the influential Tory European Research Group Mark Francois said he was "delighted" with the result.

“It means a clean fight,” he said. “If it had been Michael it would have been a lot more kinetic.”

Mr Francois said he expected Boris to win added that there was a “real difference in principle” between "Remianer" Hunt and Bojo.

Iain Duncan Smith MP said Boris "was the man to inspire and lead the UK out of the EU".

Hunt said: “I’m the underdog – but in politics, surprises happen, as they did today."

Boris added: “I look forward to getting out across the UK and to set out my plan to deliver Brexit, unite our country, and create a brighter future for all of us."

The two remaining candidates will now campaign across the UK, both Hunt and Johnson will take part in a live televised head to head debate on ITV on the 9th July.
