Love Lessons, Chapter 2.5 of Purgatory

Many minutes passed while Vestas and Carol silently hid in the forest. After what must have been an hour Vestas said, “Wait here please.”

Carol nodded and Vestas jumped. She saw him near the edge of the forest where he appeared to be looking around. She thought she saw him talking with Hemmel, the hemlock tree for a few minutes and he jumped again but she could not see where.

A few minutes after that, Vestas appeared at her side and startled her, “Sorry, the dragons appear to have left. The Krors and Groots appear to be re-organizing.”

“I saw you talking with Hemmel, what did he say?” Carol asked.

“He said that he saw no more dragons and we would put the card game off until tomorrow. Hemmel also said, when the dragons show up, all other plans are trumped.” Carol laughed at that.

“We will wait here for awhile to make certain the dragons truly are gone for the day and now, what is your real name?” Vestas asked.

“What is my real name?” Carol asked, “Do we have time for that now?”

“I think we do, unless you have a mind for something else to pass the time.”

“Hmm…I hope you do not leave me Vestas because I lied to you about who I really am but a single woman can’t be too careful when she is alone and lost in a desert and meets a strange, wonderful man.”

“No. I won’t leave you. I like you too much. Do you want to be away from me?”

“Most definitely not, you are the best thing that has ever happened to me.” Carol revealed, “And my name is, Janet Flynn, and I am a model from Las Vegas.”

“I don’t know what a model is, Janet Flynn you say, and I have no idea about Las Vegas either, whatever or wherever that is.”

“I suppose you wouldn’t but the last place I remember being was in a house in St. George, Utah which is not that far from here, or at least it is not that far from Las Vegas maybe an hour or two at the most by car.”

“I do not know what a car is either Janet Flynn.” Vestas said, “But it is nice to know the name of the person who has attached herself to me.”

“Just call me Janet and do you have a last name?”

“No, I do not. I’m known simply as Vestas and always have been. Only kings and nobles have more than one name in Sumurya. Well, sometimes the very rich did too.”

“I think we should have a more comfortable area to talk,” Janet said, “Let me try to imagine a comfortable place for us.” She imagined her bed at her apartment. “What do you think? Do you like it?” She lay down on the bed.

“It looks very nice but it could be seen between the trees by a dragon so,” as Vestas lay down next to Janet he formed a forest green tent over the bed, “Now we are hidden and comfortable Janet.”

“Yes, we are. What else would you like to know about me?” She kissed Vestas on his mouth. And when they parted,

“I want to hear whatever you want to tell me about yourself.” Vestas then kissed her in return but he moved his second kiss from her lips to her throat so she could speak.

“Oh that feels so nice Vestas. Let’s see I work in a casino as a waitress in between modeling jobs serving people drinks.”

Vestas moved his lips to the middle of her cleavage which was ample. “What is a casino and modeling jobs?”

“A casino is a hotel where people can gamble and modeling jobs are wearing clothing or posing and photographers take pictures. I also manage at the modeling agency.”

“That sounds very interesting,” Vestas mumbled as he opened Janet’s blouse and asked, “What is this?”

“It’s a bra. Here, I’ll remove everything for you.” Janet lay on her bed naked.

The tent was pulled up into the air as if snatched by a great hand and Janet screamed at what she saw.

"What do we have here?" A giant maw said as one of two huge pair of eyes looked down upon the occupants of the bed.
