Skype And Signal
Since most of the instant messaging tools already support encryption from the sender to the receiver (end-to-end), it was only a question of when Skype will get this option. Skype was a target of criticism for its own and closed protocol, but this is changing.

Skype now supports the Signal protocol, which is in use with WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Google Allo, and, with appropriate implementation, enables completely secure communication.
Skype introduced this feature as Private Conversations, which is currently only available to members of the Insider preview program. The Insider versions are available for iOS, Android, Linux and macOS, while the Universal Windows Platform recommended for Windows 10 doesn't have these features yet. Also, for now, encrypted communication is limited to text messages and doesn't support video calls. We need to include it separately, since by default Skype still uses its own protocol, which security is doubtful.

In the future, we expect the Signal encryption to receive the UWP version that is used by Windows 10 and that the video calls will be supported. Since Signal's own application already supports this, there are no technical reasons for the absence. Encrypted communication via Skype Insider remains connected to a specific device, which means that we can't see the same encrypted conversation on another device.

I had lot of problems with calling on Skype in last...two years, so I don't use it any more. Sometimes it was pretty decent software.
Agree with that. Last few years there is a bunch of other, the same quality instant messengers.
