KILA WENT INSIDE THE VILLAGE!

in #teammalaysia6 years ago

I still can't believe I went inside Endau-Rompin National Park this week. It took us three and a half hour from Kuala Lumpur to Kluang Johor. Another three and a half hour to reach Endau - Rompin National Park and to Kg Peta, an Orang Asli settlement where the JAKUN TRIBE lives here.

Jakun people is one of the indigenous people in the Peninsular Malaysia. Kg Peta is situated really next to Endau Rompin National Park, Mersing, Johor. It's was a beautiful rainforest.

Day 1

Since we only arrived here around midnight, there is not much I can see here except that a beautiful full moon. I can't wait to explore the village. We stop at Uncle Nasir house first to greet them. Uncle Nasir is the community representative that will assists us during our three days stay in the Village.

Day 2

We started our day with theory about basic accounting. I am in charge to give some learning tips, do's and don't about how to make a budget request and applying for cash advances.

The highlight of the day after training is to go and have our bath at the river stream. Here the villagers tells a story about how their village is affected by flood. I mean it was a disastrous and big flood every year starting in the month of October until March the next year.

The JAKUN community made their living mostly from the river and the rainforest. Their way of living actracted a lot of people from outside world to come and learn about their traditional cultures. No wonder the Villagers are keen to learn about basic accounts as a lot of them started to become a tourist guide and they hope that they can gain something while we are here.

Day 3

As we are at the end of our training and stays here, I manage to capture a few photos of the village. We were in a rush though because its started to rain. We need to go out from the village before its too late. We might get stuck for a week if we don't hurried back.

I love being in the village and visited the national park every day. The only disadvantage that I despise is the off - road. Luckily we use a Ford Ranger, it is an offroad vehivle which give us advantages when travels in and out of Kg Peta and Endau Rompin.National Park.

** Even though it was just a short trip, I will always remember my trip here. The JAKUN Tribe treats us like their own family. The fact that now they live like any modern civilasation, they still have not forgotten their roots. Always a grateful heart for having this kind of opportunity. Till my next visit if God is willing. **

A Jakun lady weaving a headgear for tourists and visitor.

This headpiece is sold cheap at RM 10.00 only. It was made from pandan leaves and a tedious process to dried and make it more colorful.

River for their source of food. During flood the water levels will goes up as high as the place where I took this photo.

The shy kids noticed I took their photo.

Uncle Nasir's son. Davis loves to have his photo taken.
