Taro, a kind of tubular crop of the "Araceae" tribe. It is one of the ancient plants that's cultivated by humans.

Scientific Name:- Colocasia esculenta

Taro that are grown in forests are usually called wild Taro. Many such varieties of taro are not suitable for human food.

In addition to being used as a vegetable, some species are grown in the tubers and gardens due to beauty. Some of them have many leaves, and some of them are very beautiful flowers.

It is estimated that the origin of the taro is in the Indian islands, in Southeast Asia. There have been evidence of the cultivation of taro even before about two thousand years ago. Cultivation can occur in both the ground and the water bodies. However, the number of taro grown in land is more. Taro is claimed to have many Ayurveda virtues. Taro cress provide Vitamin A is very beneficial for preventing night blindness.

Food Elements

The main ingredient of taro is iron (Fe), which keeps the oxygen supply in the body with proper hemoglobin levels in the blood. Every 100 g of taro has 39 grams of protein, 6.8 grams of sugar, 15 grams of fat, 227 ml of calcium, 10 mg of iron and 56 mg of food energy. Occasionally due to the presence of oxalic acid, sometimes the throat itch after meals.

Predispositions

By eating taro the body nourishes and the sperm increases. Remove the roughness. It is particularly beneficial for cure diseases.

Very nice article @tdas0. I have to say I have not been introduced to an edible taro yet. We have house plants here that look exactly like your 3rd picture. I have been told those are poisonous even to cats. So I got ride of mine :( Sound like it would be very interesting to try.
