Does the World Punish Talented People?

in #talent6 years ago

Our modern world can seem like a difficult place for talented people to thrive. Just take a look at your Facebook newsfeed- what's being celebrated? Cats taking selfies? Pink flamingo floaties? Your school mate's shiny new engagement ring? It can seem like, among all the noise, there's no space for talented people- and that society doesn't care about creativity anymore. But it doesn’t need to be that way.

In the past decade, reality TV shows reached their peak. We spent Saturday nights in front of The TV with our families wowing over big voices and big dreams.

But, somewhere along the lines, people lost interest.

For talented people, it can be difficult to elevate yourself in a society of people who're more concerned about Kylie Kardashian's lip implants than crafts that take a lifetime to perfect.

However, not everyone has the time and money to chase their dreams.

We're all familiar with the cliched portrayal of the struggling artist working in a coffee shop. But, step foot into any of the world's big cities and you'll see that it's not really a cliche at all. It's the reality for most talented people.

London. New York. L.A. The places where people go to make their dreams come true. And where so few make it.

So, how did we find ourselves in the situation where actors with years of training need to work in minimum wage jobs to scrape together enough money to live a modest life. While there are cats with a "blue tick" status on Instagram and advertising deals worth thousands of pounds.

It can feel like the world is stepping backwards, but it doesn't need to be.

What if there were another way for talented people to monetise their skills? A way that didn’t involve living in the world’s most expensive cities or constantly waiting for opportunities to come along.

Here at Younique, we believe that talents shouldn't be hidden behind a check pad and espresso machine. We believe that they should be showcased to the world.

The current route to stardom and fame isn’t an easy one and, truth be told, it’s completely outdated.

It's the 21st century- the digital age, but it seems like talent scouts didn’t get the memo. The world is stuck in a static state of old-fashioned auditions and elusive industry connections.

You’d think that they forgot that we now have one of history’s most powerful tools literally right at our fingertips- the internet.

Yup, the internet has changed the way we do everything with our lives. We now work online. We date online. We catch up with our friends online. And, we even create new currencies online.

So, why can't we elevate our talents online- without resorting to the slapstick tactics that the Facebook algorithms prefer?

After recognising that something was wrong with the current talent scouting system, we decided to combine our passion for change with the power of the internet to create something amazing.

Younique.

Younique is an innovative new app that allows talented people to connect with businesses who're looking for a particular skillset. Not only will this allow people in remote parts of the world to reach their potential, it’ll also allow businesses to find creative people without the pricey agency middle men.

Talented people no longer need to feel punished by the long and gruelling road to stardom. Through our platform, they can take part in sponsored competitions where they'll have the chance to win prizes in the form of our YNQ coin.

We've taken the inspirational spirit of talent shows and added the pocket-sized convenience of an app to create a completely unique approach to talent scouting.
