I am sure you must have heard of or spoken about Steve Jobs with your friend and family. How he became this person who envisioned this perfect consumer product and sold that in millions. How he built The Apple Inc one brick at a time, his journey of humble beginnings from his parent’s garage to later on create an empire of wealth and cult followership for the brand.
He was a visionary who didn’t follow the regular path, which we all blindly follow, and formed his own path. His grit, determination and unflinching nature helped him to break the shackles of the ordinary. His philosophy of keeping things simplistic yet elegant showed Apple Inc heights of unpecidented measures. In true sense, Steve Jobs created product categories which were non existant or unheard off, till the time they were introduced to the public by him.

Enough said about Steve Jobs and I know that the things I have just about him are known to everyone. That wasn’t the reason why you came into this article!

So if we ask ourselves, what is it that made an ordinary looking college dropout guy named “Steve” “The Steve Jobs”. To answer that lets take a step back and try to learn a little bit about two more entrepreneurs from India, who have made it big for themselves.

Let us start our quest to find the traits found in winners, with Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal (not relatives of each other, same surname is just a coincidence). If you do not know who the aforesaid two are, then let me give you a quick background of them. They happen to be the co-founders of an Indian eCommerce company called Flipkart, which in-turn happens to be currently valued at approx $6.9 Billion. Keeping that in mind, let us try to learn a little bit more about them. Sachin & Binny, are engineering graduates from the very prestigious Indian Institute of Technology- Delhi (one of the top most engineering institution in India). Sachin worked for Techspan & Amazon.com for some time and Binny worked for Sarnoff Corporation & Amazon.com, before starting their own start-up venture in the name of ‘Filpkart.com’, from their apartment in Bangalore, India. The early days of their company weren’t too good as the industry was in its nascent stage and Indians weren’t used to really shop online. Those were tough days for the two of them, as both had left their perks filled high paying job for this unchartered category of eCommerce in India. It was a gigantic risk on their part to leave such a lucrative job for a start-up like this one, which no one thought would ever succeed, baring the two Bansals off course.

During their early days of year 2007, Sachin & Binny used to deliver books all across Bangalore on their scooter. They could also be found distributing leaflets & bookmarks of Flipkart, in front of these big book shops of Bangalore. This was the time which really differentiates the ‘men’ from the ‘boys’. Many would have succumbed to the circumstances and would have gone back to find safe and secured jobs, but Sachin & Binny persisted with their vision and crossed every obstacle that came their way to success. As the dark clouds of early struggle vanished, there came a bright and sunny future for the two of them. On September 2015 Sachin with Binny Bansal featured on the top 100 richest people in India where they were ranked at 86, by Forbes India Rich List. Fast forward to 2017 when Sachin & Binny Bansal have been ranked at #26 in India's 50 Most powerful people of 2017, by India Today magazine.

Did you notice a few things that are common in all the three aforesaid gentlemen:

First: They took risks and didn’t believe in living the conventional way. Where Sachin & Binny left their lucritive jobs, Steve Jobs dropped out of college to pursue his passion.

Second: They all were visionaries and anticipated a demand for something which even the customers didn’t knew they needed. Very simply put, they created categories/services/products which no-one wanted uptill then.

Third: They didn’t give in to the crcumstances and kept themselves motivated to accomplish what they always dreamt of.

Four: Hardwork is the most improtant attribute of all of them and no-one can achieve success without being persistent and hardworking.

Fifth: And last but not the least, talent is also important to attain success. But in my opinion, this isn’t the only parameter and there have been personalities who have achieved greatness based on their sheer handwork.
