The Final Hours: Project T3 Sequel (An Original Short Story)
Part 1: PROJECT T3-5X2-001
The year is 3017.
Earth has become no more than a gigantic, spherical, frozen wasteland, spinning around the abyss of eternal darkness, way past the shadows of the dead sun. Silence. Endless, haunting silence that cries out tirelessly. Wailing like sirens. Emphasizing its unwanted existence. Day. Night. Day.
Air is artificial. Lethal. Toxic. Resulted by the chemical warfare that started in the previous millennia by some egoistic, chauvinist-slash-hypocrites. Killing innocent lives in the process, naming them heroes as a consolation. Price of war, they said. A mere, collateral damage for their unreasonable reasons.
Sacrificial lambs.
Water is a thing of the past, or clean water at least. What's left are pools of dark, polluted liquid, threatening to poison anything that touches it, leaving traces of unidentified substances in its wake. A product of man's undying pursuit of excellence. Destruction. Man's unrelenting idiosyncrasy.
Humanity is on the brink of extinction. Those who survived are either sick or injured. But that doesn't mean the war is over. No. The war goes on until they're all dead. They're all going to die, anyway.
Everyone will die.
Everyone MUST die. That's the point.
Dr.Levrk't sighed as he took one last look at his beloved experiment. There is nothing more he can do. A tear rolls on his cheek as he unplugged the prototype from the main power source, shutting off whatever is left of it.
PROJECT T3-5X2-001 is officially signing off.
Humanity has succeeded.
