When life goes sour,
Jarrod is severely disappointed... - Image courtesy of Gerd Altmann
I tried to imagine what I might do,
had my life turned out as bad as that of Jarrod in this story.
The prompt is "journey" for the 50 Word Short Story Contest this week.
Journey along with me, and witness Jarrod's one, final, grand escape.

Life had disappointed severely.
School?
Retrospectively, socializing propaganda.
His wife?
Samantha pummeled him mercilessly, her anger displaced from childhood abuse.
Their only child?
Ran with a bad crowd, ending up imprisoned for life.
When cancer took Sam at 65, Jarrod sold everything and set out backpacking across the Australian bush.

You are why I'm here on Steemit!
I have very eclectic interests and hope, over time, to write about them all.
I often feel like running away.
Love it, @creatr! That’s a fine plan, it seems to me, when life deals blow after blow. Just run away from it all to the outback. (But watch for killer snakes!)
:D
Thanks, Jayna... ;)
