Introduction

Greetings and welcome to the first post of this series on self-improvement. Let's begin with some light reading :).

In my opinion there are two very important things you have to acquire before anything else. These may sound like lofty goals but rest assured they are only the first step in the most rewarding journey of your life. Now let's lean on the immense life experience of the below mentioned authors to guide the way for us.

1. A set of core values that will be immensely helpful in attaining your goal.
   • A Guide to the Good Life - William B. Irvine
2. A thorough understanding of how your mind works and how you can essentialy trick it to make it work for you and not the other way around.
   • The Power of Habit - Charles Duhigg

Tips

• The real value of these books lies in practicing what you learn. Read a chapter and then take a couple -or more- days to really practice
  what you learned. This is by far the best thing you can do for yourself.
• Don't try to go at this alone. As stated in the introductory post, discussion is a pretty big part of it.
• Don't hurry. There is no end line. It's more of a way of life than a goal to achieve and be done with.
• Look at this post about the concept of non-zero days. Try to do something each and every day. Even if it is just opening the book and closing it.
• Don't be discouraged if your practice isn't up to par to your expectations. Remember noticing and being aware that you failed is the first step to winning.
