# 580 - The Majestic Elk
In 2015 the Royal Canadian Mint issued a series called "Majestic Animals".
Each one was a 2015 $20 CAD, weighting 31.39g (1.01oz) with 99.99% silver purity and Colored Proof finish.
I have already shown the first one in this post: https://steemit.com/steemsilvergold/@ronaldoavelino/459-canadian-animals
The second one: https://steemit.com/steemsilvergold/@ronaldoavelino/574-the-bighorn-sheep
The third one: https://steemit.com/steemsilvergold/@ronaldoavelino/577-the-mule-deer
Now I will show you the fourth coin of the series: "The Majestic Elk".
Its mintage was 6,499 units and the issue price was $99.95 CAD.
To view an elk or wapiti (Cervus canadensis) in the wild is to catch a glimpse of one of Canada's most majestic animal species.
Armed with impressive antlers that give it a stately air, the elk moves through the wilderness with a steady, confident gait as it browses for the vegetation that sustains it throughout the seasons.
Over half of Canada's total elk population can be found in British Columbia, with a sizable population found in the mountainous foothills and boreal forests of Alberta.
Designed by Canadian artist Maurade Baynton, this coin features a striking portrait of an elk.
The majestic, tan-colored elk stands tall in an open grassland area at the edge of a boreal forest that is resplendent in the green colors of summer.
The elk's head is turned to its right as it lifts its gaze upward to the sky; this allows the viewer to glimpse its beautiful facial features in side profile, along with the long, darker-colored mane that covers the elk's neck.
Its distinctive, wide antlers are prominently displayed in the centre of the image field, where they seem every bit as majestic as the rugged mountain peaks seen in the engraved background.
The obverse shows the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, designed by Susanna Blunt.

The elk surely looks majestic in this colorized coin. This is not too old a coin. Did you get this from the secondary market as well?
Yes, I bought this whole series on Ebay, from the same seller. I paid exactly half the issue price for each one, plus the shipping of the four boxes, along with several other boxes. The total shipping cost was around U$15.00.
