Snapchat wants to get involved in the music game now. They see how artists come onto their platform and make big noise! They want to give you a unique experience with the AR (Augmented Reality), making custom lenses for artists. Apparently some artists already have been using the feature. I've yet to see the AR Lenses in action but I will be on the lookout for it as they start rolling it out.
SiriusXM settles with Sound Exchange for 150 Million, adds new feature to NOI Platform
150 M's??? Yes! 150 Million owed to SoundExchange is the settlement! SiriusXM was ordered by the US Royalty Board to pay up! A 40% increase of royalties will be paid between now and Jan. 22 2022! This lawsuit appears to have been going on since 2013 when SoundExchange filed their first claim.
Speaking of Sound Exchange, they are looking for other ways to solve the 70 million dollar problem of unpaid royalties. They rolled out an NOI Exchange (Free) to help publishers and songwriters claim their royalties. It looks to be a big hit now as they roll out some premium features, which happen to be a demand of the publishers using the platform. The premium features give users the ability to upload a claim and send it directly to a DSP contact. They also have a recordation process they charge for; $75 per submission to the US Copyright office, their fees are not included. See for yourself!

Snapchat Integrates Pandora Music
Snapchat again is connecting with Pandora to give us some more ways to share music. It hasn't been rolled out to the US as of yet, but how it works is that Snapchat will make these animated cards that show off your music. This is a premium feature, however, free users still get to share & play, just right after a commercial ad. This is more incentive to get your music on Pandora and to hop on Snapchat and give it a try!
