Playing Steemmonsters for the first time!
I was really excited when Steemmonsters first announced their game, but unfortunately this autumn has been extremely busy for me, so I haven't had a chance to check out the game itself before yesterday. I have been wanting to test it out for a while, but the thing that really got my attention was the announcement of daily quests. Finally there's a reason to do some battles beside just trying to climb the ladder!
The daily quest is randomly generated, and it seems to be pretty much tied to 10 wins with a certain splinter in order for us to get the reward. My first attempt at making a good deck went terrible, so I did the easy thing and copied a good deck from a kind of high rated player, spent $20 or so to get my hands on some better cards, and did my best to see how far I could go.
After completing my first daily quest, I got this lovely free booster pack:

After being done with my daily quest, I wanted to see if I could climb the rating latter to a point where I would get some free packs at the end of the season, and bought myself a Selenia Sky to make a deck around. She was not cheap! After battling with her and the deck below for a few hours, I managed to get to around 1,400 Rating, but it became very difficult to stay above 1,200-1,300 with this deck. I guess I would need to level her up so that I can level the other cards if I want to keep climbing.
I'm almost tempted to buy another Selenia Sky to level up, but I'm not sure if it would be a good idea since the max mana seems to be on a rotation, so it might not be a wise idea to invest a lot into a select few cards right now. Maybe I will play around a little while to see which are worth investing into over the long-term.

Anyway, yepp mana cap changes (once in 2 days?). Also, I think that leveling up summoner gives you harder opponents, not sure about it. First I tought that opponents are matched based on your rank, but in Steemworld, you can see that in the sm_find_match message the lvl of your summoner is send along with the team hash. And not your rank. Soo be careful with lvling up the summoner. I feel since I've done that, my opponents are harder and kinda above my level :/ :D
Oh, that's a bit concerning. I'm not so tempted to spend another $15 to get another Selenia Sky if that's the case. Thanks for the warning though!
Yes I recognise that deck of yours (hehe, sorry about that!). Selenia Sky and my lightning dragon has seemed to be the key for me so far, usually with blue. The daily change in battle rules do seem to change things up nicely, to the point where all you really need is a good run of a few wins to move up to the next rank.
You're definitely not my favorite person to meet on the battlefield! Hehe. I do have a Lightning Dragon in my collection, so maybe I will test him out in my deck later today.
Yep, I found something that worked and kept plugging at it! Now sadly I've dropped down about 200 points. Easy come, easy go. Its that damn jester, gets me every time.
@valth Thank You for doing this Post. I too am a Big SteemMonsters Fan and I am Finding Out how important it is to level UP my Summoners........
Yep, it seems super important to level them up. By leveling up the summoner we can level up the entire team. It's too bad that it's so expensive to level up Selenia Sky! I'm almost tempted to try out another deck without so expensive legendary cards to see if I can rank higher by having a level 5+ team.
