All Steemmonster Sponsored Tournaments Are Free (if you properly qualify)

matt announcement on free tourneys.PNG

I was very critical of Steemmonsters 2 days ago because there was a charge put on the Steemmonster sponsored tourneys. I want to let everyone know that they listened to the many people that made comments, and changed that policy.

Everyone makes mistakes, the smart ones take corrective action when they realize it. Steemmonsters did just that.

I applaud them for listening to the opinions of the players/investors and reacting so quickly. Not many companies move that swiftly (if at all).

I look forward to playing in the tourneys and I hope to see everyone on the battlefield!!!

Hi Dave

Well this certainly seems like good news!

I cant remember who you mentioned as being 'critical' (not the word used) of your direct approach at times, and I do think that some of the wording used in your post and comments the other day were a bit spicy. However, the message was clear in that there was an alternative to tournament entry fees, that would still avoid entrants taking part with no chance of a prize, and I'm glad the chaps in charge saw through the flames and listened.

I consider myself a newbie player, and personally would not be interested in paying to enter a tournament as I wouldn't really know if I stood a chance or not. Now my cards will put me in the right place to perhaps have a shot at a prize.

Cheers

Asher

Hey Asher... That was @jarvie and I listened. I realize that I was "spicy" and heated, and glad they focused on the comment section and looked past my language and tone too. I think I had to burn a few bridges on this one, but I feel that it was important enough of an issue that it was worth me losing respect in some people's eyes (and making a few enemies too).

This comment right here, to me, is worth anything that happens negatively to me. Because there will be tons of Ashers that will now play and learn and find out how awesome this game can be.

Thank you for your feedback on the orginal post and also here, your message might've been short, but I think it was impactful in that it was honest and you carry so much respect in the community!

Cheers!

And if you have time, there is a tourney starting in just over an hour... I'm playing, maybe we could get matched up? :D

I hope that nothing is beyond repair and the 'new' system works a treat, making the decision a good one.

It was already past my bedtime when I replied and so I assume the battles are complet. How did you do?

I will have to look at when these take place on European time.

Thank you for the kind comments!

Yes me too on it being beyond repair.

And I lost 1st round on the first one, but made it to the 2nd round on the second... I was a little rusty, but happy to have to enter and see how I stand :D

Have a great rest of your day Asher! Cheers

Sounds like a tough draw - Better luck next time!

I'll hopefully find a tournament running at the weekend or a bit earlier on in the day.

Cheers and you too :)

I believe every (d)App on this beautiful blockchain should leverage the community and make sure they can grow even better by collecting as much feedback as possible <3 If the community is raving so will they share enthusiastically outside of the blockchain! Glad the feedback was appreciated and even made a change happen :-) Cheers!

Hey @soyrosa... I am with you completely on feedback... Positive and negative feedback can be used to improve any organization and its awesome to see when people make changes based on that feedback! Thank you for the comment and for stopping by :) Have a wonderful night!!!

I don't get why this is good new @davemccoy.

Doesn't it favour the bigger players again? Champs can play wherever they like for free. Others have to pay if they want a shot a bigger prizes?

What am I missing here?

To be honest, this is not a big issue for me since I don't have the cards or skill to be playing in many tournaments.

My biggest complaint is still the bots. Playing in silver league against the same ones, day in and day out makes for a really boring experience and, as a result I am playing less and less each season. Same goes for playing against people with much higher level cards although that has improved since the early days.

I'm glad you're feeling better about it though and will now be joining in again. 😍

One step at a time Gillian. Not every issue is fixed with this, but they did fix the one that was greatest. Taking the pool from the players and not letting them play in the tourneys without a fee would've been a huge issue. As you can tell by my reaction, it would be a something horrible. So EVERYONE that has the cards should be able to play for FREE since they paid for the cards.

Now as far as the higher decks playing in the lower levels, that is an entirely separate issue. Of course I agree with you that people should play in the level they are at, but there are valid arguments on both sides. I am confident they will realize that it won't be any fun if the same 50 win every match at all levels, so that will be fixed by natural momentum. There is already a discussion taking place over that issue, and it will grow louder as the days go by.

But in my opinion, the fact that the fees locked people out was a far bigger problem (100x greater).

Ps... there is also another issue they will have to address soon too. That is paying "deep" or many places and not just to the top 8 or 15. That will help them a lot when they figure out how paying deep will benefit them.

Ha, ha, ha. I didn't realise i'd published that comment @davemccoy. It was still showing as unposted in my browser so I was surprised to see a reply. Then I remembered I edited it and not posted the update. 😂

I've no idea what was missing from the first one but your reply makes sense in the context of the second one anyway.

I wrote it after playing game after game against the same bots that I can't beat with my cards and so was feeling a tad grumpy! 😂

I am confident they will realize that it won't be any fun if the same 50 win every match at all levels

I guessed that even the ones at the top will eventually start to complain about that. 😂

Hey, that's great news. So happy things took a turn for the better and you don't feel like you wasted all that time and money. I was picturing people starting their own tournaments with their decks and bypassing them, like they did at comic shops with the Yugio cards back when my son was a kid.

Yes I think its awesome news. On many levels. First I think it will be cease to be a negative, and now they will have many more people extolling the tourneys (instead of being upset). Second, I think it will bring more people into the tourneys so they can experience the excellent technology. Third, I think it will bring people to play the quests again because their rankings matter. And finally, I think credibility may have taken a hit with the original imposition of the fee, but the fast action gives them a big positive in both "listening to your customers" and "restoring the integrity of their word".

Thank you for your contribution here too @practicalthoughts. You did a nice service to the community as your words were on point and very well written. I know you don't play the game at this time, but if you ever want to, I can get you a deck to play for free so you can try it out! (I would be honored if you decided to take me up on it!)

If I ever decide to play, I will give you a holler. Thank you :)

That would be good, and you are always welcome! Thanks again for the support :)

Nice one Dave!
Hopefully, those bridges can be built again over time, but in the meanwhile you can enjoy your games without having to talk to people anyway.
I'm glad we didn't lose you, and common sense prevailed.
I think it's a WIN-WIN. They just needed to think through the arguments to satisfy both sides.

Thank you for that @just2random, and also for the support in the process. I think its awesome they made this choice and agree its a WIN/WIN. And yes if I burned the bridges, its ok... I am happy to play and support the program anyways. I think there are going to be some cool things that can be done going forward as far as growing the base, and this (plus delegation of our cards) clears the path towards that becoming a realization.

Thanks again for the support and it is people like you that carried weight in this process, so thank you very much for giving your opinions too!

We need more Steemians not being afraid to speak their mind like you did and while I was divided on the situation, I think it is important to see that the feedback was considered and adjusted accordioto what seems to be in the benefit of the community. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for taking the time to make this comment and for the compliment you paid me. I agree its important that the feedback was considered and adjusted, and it is something that will give them credibility after having done so. I think both the community and the company benefits, and I'm very happy to see it!
