What is Steemit Sandiwch Contest (SSC)?
SSC Official Week 45 Sponsor(s): @bleedpoet @jaybird
A very big shout out to all our supporters and especially our Sponsors and Donors who are crucial in upping the prize pool each week. We'd be grateful to have any new Sponsors! Past Sponsors include @bleedpoet @artwatch @gringalicious @doitvoluntarily @homecook @papa-pepper @pornwatch
THIS WEEKS WINNERS ARE:
There were a few Contestants worthy of recognition! In fact, I really cannot convey just how difficult it continues to be to choose winners every week!! There are always multiple entries pitted against each other for every winners spot including the SSC Outstanding Achievement Awards and it's continually a painful process picking 1 over the other(s).
First Prize Winner
@loveself
1rst Prize was selected by @lizelle
For this epic entry: https://steemit.com/steemitsandwichcontest/@loveself/steemit-sandwich-contest-week-45-french-onion-soup-panini
"@loveself Everything looks absolutely delicious! I can just imagine all the oniony flavours in the meat which looks like it's falling apart plus those chips are to die for! What a great father's day sandwich this is, a lovely tribute to her father ;)"
Comment By @jaybird: "Holy shit...Epic Womenwich! Besides the braised beef with 3 types of onions (love it), those truffle chips sounds fantastic! Great choice of flavour combos and the inspirational element was awesome!
Second Prize & the new Week 46 Veto Vote Holder:
@birdsinparadise
- "My choice for second place is the new granny bird @birdsinparadise. @birdsinparadise: Beautiful sandwich from granny bird! Sure that chicken must have been absolutely full of smoky flavours from the bacon, gorgeous tahini on gorgeous ciabatta! I just love the presentation - a little baby? LOL"
Our 3rd Prize Winner for Steemit Sandwich Contest was chosen by @jaybird and goes to [Big Drum Roll]
@lizelle
Well...I'm never disappointed opening up en entry from @lizelle (I mean to be fair, that's happening more and more with pretty much all you crazy ppl). The fact is, she consistently kills it with some of the most oddball (maybe it's a South African thing?) sandwich concoctions of this contest. She has a such a corky style coupled with a family-ish sensitivity that keeps her entries fresh and personal.
This weeks entry was a whopping "double trouble" Crispy Mega Beef Burger and ft. hilarious in-sandwich (at least from my childhood) potato chips. Some great homemade sauces, roasted veggies in between a panini bun Love the Cucumbers & Melted Cheese!
Pres was top notch as usual and dialogue memorable :)
Featured Entries: (I will for the most part only be featuring the "Outstanding Achievement" winning entries in this section)
@ytrphoto - Again I appreciated the artisan nature of this creation immensely. It looks weirdly perfect, almost as though it's "display food." Love the homemade ham and the colours going on. Nice red with green etc. Greet Steem food art too.
@yesslife - This creative sandwiteer has a bit of Dr. Frankenstein in her eh!? This saucy entry was fire. Potentially too much, the meat looked a bit charred lol. Still, the combo ingredients were pretty fantastic. From Potatoes to homemade burgers to leg ham and the veggies this oddball entry in a hotdog bun may not have looked pretty..but i'm guessing it was pretty dam delicious...oh and filling! Oh and your comments often make me laugh ;)
@intrepidsurfer - Have you seen this man? He was missing for a few weeks but has triumphantly (well sort of) returned to SSC & is safe and sound. The Tree Guru managed to present this messy Potato bread breakfast sandwich. Armed with veggies, bacon and probably an entire bottle of Sriracha, it looked to be the perfect breakfast to start one's day!
@andreipopa - A vet of SSC, Andrei manages to pump out multiple entries each week all be it some of them are "micro Sandwiches." he's got a knack for Hors d'oeuvre i think. I did however appreciate his larger entry, with burger and mushrooms Mici and Mustard. Simple but effective.
@toddfoster - Probably the most basic entry, a little rough around the edges with it's upside down & blurry photos lol. Although that made for some entertainment, this simple but effective breakfast sandwich combo-ed Jam, butter and eggs. The art of using whatever you have left is a tough one!
SELECTING WINNERS!
@jaybird: I select the winners based on a variety of parameters. Just do your thing and have fun with it. I'm considering many factors such as presentation, ingredients & originality, creativity, community opinion & artistic ability just to name a few. PLEASE make sure to follow the rules! They are easy to follow and help prevent the tragedy of Null entries!
There are now 6 prizes. First Prize = roughly 50% of the prize pool
Second Prize dubbed the "Veto Vote" = roughly 30% of the prize pool + the honour of selecting the following weeks second prize winner. This prize is ideally given to an entry that although it did not win the contest, showed distinction among all the other entries. This could be a feature such as it was the community favourite, it used the most bizarre ingredients, or, it was just the best looking sandwich etc. IMPORTANT! The "Veto Vote" holder may not vote on his or her own sandwich to be selected as the second prize. However, they are still eligible to win First Prize should they enter the contest that week.
Third Prize will be roughly 15% of the prize pool
Roughly 5% of the pool goes towards the "Outstanding Achievement Awards"
Week 46's Veto Vote holder is: @birdsinparadise and was selected by @lizelle who was week 45's Veto Vote holder. Thank you both for your participation!
IMPORTANT! "Veto Vote" holders must always present their final selection to @jaybird in confidence and allow the news to be revealed in an officially "Who Won Steemit Sandwich Contest" blog post. Deviation from this method will result in a forfeit of the Veto Vote and thus, the selection will be consider null and a new winner will be chosen by @jaybird.
Veto Voters can contact @jaybird through or Steemit.chat username: jaybird or discord jaybird#4732 . If for whatever reasons, the Veto Vote winner does not select an entry in the following weeks contest, I will be the default second prize selector for that week.
Oh oh oh this is hot thank you I have been in this position for 3 consecutive weeks and it's good for me to be here :) I'm already thinking for my input this week 46
@jaybird I know you laugh a lot about my strange comments hahaha this is the product of my translation hahaha
Thanks for this, it makes me very happy and congratulations to all
hehe, you find making sandwiches "hot...." me too ;)
I doubt I'll get tired of your accidental the innuendoes anytime soon
Awesome, I am stunned! Thanks so much @lizelle and @jaybird. I really appreciate your selection. Congrats to @loveself, and @lizelle your sandwiches were indeed amazing as were all winners! Good luck to all next week!
Yep.. there weren't many entries this week, but ever1 was ft. Lookin' forward to hearing your thoughts on next weeks entries. Rumour has it, the Legend @steemit-foodie might be back with a legit entry.... every1's world may be rocked haha
Love it! Bring it on! We need it!
Aha @steemit-foodie, the queen of sandwiches, can't wait to see her creations now she's a Mommy! Thank you so much for the surprise 3rd place, may just be a South African thing making oddball sandwiches what with bunny chows, vetkoek etc ;)
Congratulations to some of my favorite foodies and friends!
A big thank you to @lizelle and @jaybird. I'm thrilled to be part of this sandwich community. This one was truly special since it coincided with father's day.
