SteemitSandwichContest #45 - Crispy Mega Beef Burger

in #steemitsandwichcontest6 years ago (edited)

Our Lily's Cottage is a self catering guest house, but we often have midweek business guests who order meals, so after a week of early morning breakfasts, note I'm not a morning person, and dinners, I'll prepare that with pleasure, Friday nights have become Burger nights!

So why not share my Crispy Mega Beef Burger here for the awesome @jaybird's Steemit Sandwich Contest Week #45

Ingredients required:

  • Panini bread
  • Garlic Butter
  • Parmesan Cheese
  • Homemade Sweet Chilli Sauce
  • Homemade Sweet & Sour Cucumber
  • Homemade Ground Beef Burger patties
  • Red Onions - roasted
  • Bell Peppers - roasted
  • Cheddar Cheese slices
  • Creamy Cheddar Crinkle Cut Chips
  • Roast Vegetables & Fries as sides

First things first - Spread a generous helping of garlic Butter onto Warm Panini Bread, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese & top with
Hot sweet Chilli Sauce -
Here is the how-to:

  • 10 cloves Garlic, crushed
  • 4 large Onions, chopped
  • 200 gram Chillies - 150g for the faint hearted
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 2 tablespoons Vinegar
  • 450 gram smooth Apricot Jam (or Jelly)
  • 700ml Tomato Sauce
    Mince chillies in food processor.
Sautee garlic, onion & chillies in oil till soft (mind the chilli steam will burn your eyes)
Add remaining ingredients, stir till jam has melted, simmer for about 20 min.
Pour into sterilised jars & seal.

Sweet & Sour Cucumbers come onto the stage - my instant version, super easy -
Heat Balsamic Vinegar, Mustard Seeds, whole Cloves, whole Peppercorns, Salt & Brown Sugar. Add thinly sliced Cucumbers and simmer for max 5 minutes.
Cool & it's ready to use!
Of course this improves if you bottle it and let it stand for a couple of days so the flavours can mingle.

Juicy Beef Burger patties on top of that - Lean ground Beef, Breadcrumbs, Grated Onion, ground Coriander, ground Cloves, Black Pepper & Egg to bind it all.
IMG_20180615_181913.jpg

Next in line is roasted Red Onions & Bell Peppers.
IMG_20180615_182054.jpg

Now for the Cheese slices - see how they just melt at the charm of those Beefy Burgers.
IMG_20180615_182310.jpg

The king of the castle atop all this is the secret ingredient - easy peasy but oh so crispy and delicious - slightly crushed Creamy Cheddar crinkle cut Chips.
IMG_20180615_182352.jpg

Extra chips can be shoved on for extra crunch.

Served with roast Veggies and Black Pepper & Sea Salt oven chips.

Greetings, Lizelle

Thats sounds nice this food that you made and show us on steemit. I was thinking:
yesterday I went to a natural and vegan items that got close to where I live and bought, besides a roulade fit (which is a Swiss roll made with pressed chicken and stuffing cheese, leeks and Sun-dried tomatoes, a Minas fresh cheese delicious. You don't know that cheese. Is something unique in the region where I live here in Brazil. Even in the other States of this country that cheese is made. It is tasty and well nutrutivo, with too much protein and not enough carbohydrates. This will cause me to lose weight, is my main objective here.

Thank you for posting and good afternoon!!!!!

I have never heard of that cheese, thank you for your comments!

That hot sweet Chilli Sauce sounds really good. Could I please have that recipe! I think that would go so well with so many different dishes...

You're right @cecicastor, it really spices up a bland meal & is great on toasted sandwiches as well!
Very simple recipe (will edit my post and add it):

  • 10 cloves Garlic, crushed
  • 4 large Onions, chopped
  • 200 gram Chillies - 150g for the faint hearted
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 2 tablespoons Vinegar
  • 450 gram smooth Apricot Jam (or Jelly)
  • 700ml Tomato Sauce
    Mince chillies in food processor.
Sautee garlic, onion & chillies in oil till soft (mind the chilli steam will burn your eyes)
Add remaining ingredients, stir till jam has melted, simmer for about 20 min.
Pour into sterilised jars & seal.

Thank you, @lizelle! I will make some when my peppers are ripe. I have lots of little ones now, so in future, I will have to find ways to make interesting dishes using chillies...

I am not a morning person either. But I seriously considered buying a big house -- or even better, an old hacienda -- in Northern New Mexico, up around Taos probably, and turning it into a Bed-and-Brunch.

There are quite a few traditional B&B's in that part of the state. (I've stayed at some very nice ones. (And my then-husband said the food at one in particular was marvelous. ) I don't do breakfast. I don't get up early -- and I'm not hungry for about four hours after that. (Pretty much on the dot.)

So the usual B&B was out of the question unless I could have hired staff to manage it -- and I didn't trust that idea. But the notion of a Bed-and-Brunch was intriguing ... 'cause you and I aren't the only ones who feel that way about life-around-sunrise.

Well now, a bed & brunch is much more appealing! I also can't eat for a couple of hours but can't start the day without a good cup of filter coffee, just one cup a day mind you!
The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen, so most guests book accommodation only, and I tell them there are good restaurants and take aways only 2km from us, some even deliver, but some business guests and students book dinner bed & breakfast!
It's a real nice job running a bnb though, we meet the nicest people from all over the world, very rewarding:)
Thank you for your awesome comments:):)

Just reading the description of the pickles is making me salivate. Your sandwich creations are always so imaginative and I love the chips added in for extra crunch. Best of luck.

Thank you so much @loveself, you always give such great feedback, really appreciate it :)

My kids always look at me like I'm mad when I put chips on my roll. They don't get how much extra crunch it gives and it always reminds me of my school days. Another yummy creation @lizelle.

Thanks @jusipassetti, so you also know that crunch on a spongy roll :) We went through a phase of having chip rolls when the kids were little!

Jeezus! Womanwich!

What an epic sandwich.. nice job with the Homemade Sweet Chilli Saucea
Homemade Sweet & Sour Cucumber & of course, the Homemade Ground Beef Burger patties!

Also love the chips hahah haven't seen that classic move in a while :)

Do you make these sandwiches for your guests lol? Talk about a distinctive B&B eh. Although I'm sure the food the guest get is top notch regardless.

Haha @jaybird, the guests will think I'm crazy if I had to give them some of my weird sandwiches, but they would love this burger :)
Thank you for your awesome comments! Will be in touch regarding second place :)

This I love, I like the way these hamburger meats are very well together they look rich and those fries a good touch
