Hurray - daddy is coming home!

Many children see their father only in the evening or at the weekend. When dad is there, of course, he should have time for the kids and possibly do some great things with them. Not an easy task, but a very important task for the fathers to spend time with their children after a hard day's work.

It is important not to make the time with dad a state of emergency, but to make it for the child as a family time. This means that sometimes, but not every night, there is a special game or maybe even a great company. On other evenings it's just a get-together. Let your child be part of your life, at least in the evening.

Dad needs a break

After a long day at work, fathers also need a break. This is often not easy to teach for very young children, but you should try to relax after work. Some fathers do this on the car or train ride home, others just need a quick nap or a cup of coffee. Take your own breaks, if necessary, as part of the arrivals ritual. Your child will get used to it - especially when relaxed after hours with dad on the plan. Another method is to take turns with the child: Sometimes the child's turn and his daddy's time, on other days the needs of the father come first and he has a break for a while.

Relaxation with child

You want your peace after work? Well, then maybe you should not have become a father. Recognize that you have decided to live with a child. Even if a relaxing nap after work is just a beautiful dream, even with a child, you can relax wonderfully from the workday, namely by getting involved, immerse yourself in the children's universe and forget the daily worries and tensions in the pirate or knight game. Let your child lead you into his world and choose games that you enjoy and do not stress, but relax. You'll be surprised how well you can get your head off doing so.

What should we play?

The possibilities of playing with a child are almost unlimited, but you also have to come up with something. The following games are great for keeping the little ones busy and giving you the important playing time with daddy:

• Playing with hand puppets: They make fun for little and big kids. With smaller children, you can make wonderful faxes, together with the older child doll theater pieces can be thought of, then allowed to admire the mom.
• Sorting games: Sort coins, pearls or marbles, make patterns and figures out of them. With it you occupy your child and get yourself a little rest. If you want to impress your child, then have it built a coin tower and then flip a coin against the tower with your thumb and forefinger. Your child will be staring if the tower stops anyway.
• Powerplaying : Children like to romp about their lives and preferably with daddy. Your child will be laughing with laughter when you turn into a crawling monster or a giant spider that wants to catch and tickle the child. When tickling and romping but always pay attention to it: If it is your child too much and it feels uncomfortable or afraid, you should stop the game immediately.

Ambitious fathers can also work, build or paint together with their child. Together, think about activities that you both enjoy. Instead of playing, you can just go for a walk, ride a bike or play badminton in the garden. Smaller children will enjoy it too, if they are bathed by dad in the evening.

Only dad and me!

To have the father all to yourself is a luxury for children with working fathers, which they enjoy very much. Especially smaller children need the undisturbed time, in which they do not have to share dad with their mother or older brother. Time for a quiet story on the sofa or other activities that includes only father and child. Incidentally, this can certainly be a trip to the hardware store. The child feels at such moments that it is important and loved and appreciated.
