Daily Steem Price Update 19/9/2019

in #steemit5 years ago

Good day Steemian welcome to today's Steem price update for 19/9/2019.
I have been posting the Steem price update since almost the very beginning of Steemit.com.
Many have came here to discuss the daily Steem price's and changes for over 2 years now.

I also want to mention incase your wondering that when something doesn't seem normal from the other regular "Price Updates" that the daily Steem price posts do occasionally change their format from time to time.

But regardless of changes we will carry on as usual and by this I mean knowing the price of Steem as it's important for your daily plan or strategy.
And even if you are not planing to do anything with your Steem I still recommend checking out these updates and so keeping an eye on the price.
So without further ado lets take a look at today's Daily Steem Price change for 19/9/2019.

Should you be trading with Steem today...?

Well what a surprise...just down the road from me there were some workmen up on the electric poles doing what looked like "fixing the wires". I guess it should be to no surprise to you or me what happened moments later. Yup once again I was cut off from the internet. This was in the morning... came late afternoon and still no internet and the workmen were gone so I called my provider. On the phone they told me they would send over a engineer the following day. Well he didn't show up...yup here we go again... and so fed up I phoned them again to which the said they will send the engineer tomorrow... LOL gosh these people well will he show up this time!? I also told them about the works so they cancelled the engineer... and then said they will have it fixed by tonight midnight. Well early morning I was still asleep some dude is knocking on my door, I looked out the window and it's the bloody engineer that was apparently cancelled...argh what the hell, well one hour later he fixes my internet and explained the bozos from the previous day didn't reconnect my cable from not one but two poles down. Anyway back now let's see how long it takes until my net goes down again. Keeping this ship moving forward seems to be especially important since the HardFork21 and the 22HF switch over, this is because of both the Steemit proposal system and the new rewards curve structure as made it generally more difficult for many to gain the same rewards they did prior to the Hardfork.

NEW-STEEM continues.

From what I could see it really was community at it's best, because even with all of the new changes it brought many people closer. Regardless of what people were doing during the Hardfork changes many took time to login-in and check-in on our favourite social media website Steemit. We connected and commented-on each other's posts about what we were experiencing, and of course that was our initial reaction's to Hardfork21. The actual change-over started very smoothly, as at first you could barely even notice we had switched over to HF-21. But this didn't last long, it was fine for the first hour but soon after Steemit came crashing down. The Dev Team were monitoring the whole event and so the whole blockchain was restored back quickly. The cause of the problem? Funnily it was a whale who was about to test the new downvote pool, and so a very large downvote of that size was cast for the very first time on new-steem HF21... and bang.. the blockchain went down!

Brace Yourselves!! HARDFORK 22!

HARDFORK 22, yes it happened but before you think SMT's are available like right now.. NO! they are not, basically there was a issue that had been discovered which was preventing delegations from functioning properly. Now you might think this is not a big deal but it sure was a frustrating problem for those who are especially very new to Steem. This was because Steemit couldn't actually delegate to these newly created accounts, new accounts get a delegation from Steemit to get themselves started. It seems it's the whales who keep stepping on all the bugs. Anyway so the Steemit accounts couldn't delegate any SP to those new and so leaving them enabled to do anything on the blockchain. The problem also goes much deeper than just that, but I'am sure you can already understand how this already is problematic. And so the solution was to quickly HardFork again to resolve the problem. And so here we are at Hardfork 22 already, but minus the SMT's. But it didn't end there Steem went down yet again leaving us for many hours, actually even day's without the use of voting or posting. The blockchain halted this time-round due to a bug in the curation's reward curve. Luckily the Dev team were able to develop a patch which did not necessitate yet even another hardfork. Yes we were nearly about to end up with hardfork 23 happening. And honestly it did almost feel like another hardfork as I will mention that this problem had caused issues for the exchanges with some wallets being enabled of any use, which could explain why the price didn't move much. But I'am just happy to report those wallets are now working again. As for the actual bug it was incredibly difficult to detect even with it's insane "out-come". I mean you guys are going to love this.. but this bug resulted in some weird curation reward weight like "-1" which resulted in a computed value of "2^64 - 1" which means when paid out these votes would be tempting to receive "Trillions" in Steem!! Gosh imagine that! Obviously this kind of behaviour would prompt a safety catch to stop it from happening but wow! Anyway people did also do ALOT of complaining about the lack of communication during Steemit's down time, still the team did put out some effort saying they were aware and working on resolving the situation. This was not good enough for most as people seemed to demand hourly updates of the situation. I don't think that is necessary nor do many understand that finding the route of the problem is not always easy or can be explained so quickly. In other words I also don't think they had much to report back to us at the time anyway, perhaps a message reinforcing they are still working into fixing the situation may have settled a few nerves down. We know the team were working their asses off trying to get the chain running again there was no needs for such commotion. In the end I'am just very happy the blockchain is back-up and running normally and so far it's been stable. As for Steem INC they now continue to work on bringing SMT's and actually despite the extra hardfork related work the team seem to be right on schedule for it's release. They have recently completed work for "Specific Voting" which is a means of rewarding users with the desired SMT token of choice, it's a important coming feature, while it's needed the feature may make thing's just a little more confusing for new users, but once understood it's pretty simple. There was some discussion's that the Steemit proposal system was not being used enough by regular users, in other words not enough people are voting on the proposals or showing interest, I believe this was down to much of the community not being happy about the %10 of the reward pool cut and going towards such a system but it seems due to some efforts by Steemit INC and influence users there as been a growing interest.

Always do your own due diligence the above is only a opinion.
