ARE SEX, DRUGS, AND ROCK’N’ROLL VERBOTEN SUBJECTS ON STEEMIT?

As I should have anticipated, it was punished in the box office, and only got 11 votes and an 85 cent payout.
Steemit is a different world to the rest of the internet.
On my own website the most popular page is “EXTREME ULTRA HARDCORE – THE BIGGEST FREE PORN SITE IN THE WORLD” which gets millions of hits a year.

But not on Steemit! - I first learned about Steemit’s aversion to decadence five months ago I tried posting a similar page here on Steemit, “NOT SAFE FOR WORK ULTRA HARDCORE PORN” and the results were less than I hoped for, although it did rake in $1.39.

My post “HOT CLICK BAIT” also failed to live up to expectation with only 24 votes and a 2 cent payout. But at least I can make claim to having posted the thumbnail with the biggest set of hooters ever seen on Steemit

My website is awash with decadence, but I have long since given up sharing any of it on Steemit. I’ve come to accept that posts like “MONSTER BOOBS UNLEASHED”, “IN YER FACE MEATFLOPS”, and “HILLARY CLINTON HAIRY, SWEATY AND WILD” would all sink without trace on Steemit, however popular they might be on the wider web.
In a desperate attempt to gain votes, I even once posted “HOW’S YOUR ARSE?” – a damn good post if I say so myself, one that was packed with hot arse (ass) images but only managed 26 votes and a 5 cent payout. “WTF” I remember thinking to myself, “What sort of place is Steemit anyway?”

Now that 4.8 million new users have just signed up for Steemit in May (I calculated that using my new algorithm) they are probably all wondering what sort of content works best on Steemit, just like I did back in the day.

PS - I remember back in the old days my posts used to get 100 votes from only 10 views - but now they get 14 votes from 30 views.
I blame bots, but clearly I am a washed up old has been, and like the new guy who is planning to quit Steemit because he has been on here for 3 days now and hasn't made any real money, maybe I need to re-evaluate my blogging future...

Not forbidden at all. We've even had some porn. Just make sure one of your tags is NSFW so people can opt into seeing it. We actually have children using this platform, and we have other people that giving them the option to view an NSFW topic post is desireable.
If you don't do this then yeah you're going to get flagged. NSFW doesn't censor you at all, I've tagged some of my own posts that way, and I check them out fairly often.
It is just a sign of respect and NOT forcing visuals and topics upon others. It also makes it a little safer for kids though really all they have to do is click the REVEAL link to see it anyway.
Some NSFW posts get paid pretty well. The stuff without that tag likely won't make much as people will flag it with reason.
Is Steemit itself safe for work?
I find it really buggers up my workflow.
And vapourisers too - when I'm smashed off my nut my work habits are totally crap...

Whether you choose to do it or not is up to you. If you post something with a porn or potentially distasteful title, image, first part of the text that is REVEALED to people in the main feed whether they want to see it or not you're likely going to get flagged to oblivion.
When in doubt use NSFW. NSFW seems to do okay if it is a well conceived post. I am fairly certain there are some voters that intentionally look at that tag for things to support.

Ok I'll trying being serious for a moment (this doesn't happen very often) - Do you think this post should be tagged NSFW? and do you think a post reviewing a vapouriser should be NSFW?
I don't think that necessarily should be NSFW. I had to intentionally think about what I was seeing because you asked the question to really get it. Such shapes can occur in nature. Now if they were not artistically ambiguous like that and were say full on photos of such regions then yeah NSFW would likely be warranted.
In this case I don't think it'd be needed. Though that is me. People are free to vote how they like. So I still say if you are in doubt use the tag.
Do I look for NSFW posts? Sometimes. I always click REVEAL to see what something is when it is marked as HIDDEN with a REVEAL button in the feed. Those show up with all other posts I look at.
I've posted I think two posts I flagged NSFW and they didn't do bad.

Both were about the same thing but posted for different reasons. I wasn't going out of my way to make something NSFW I just thought that video was VERY WELL put together and worth writing about.
Youtube eventually censored it so it is not in my second post, but I found it uncensored elsewhere and embedded that in the replies of the first post and the second post I embedded it showing we can embed things other than youtube.

well, I kinda agree with @dwinblood, but I would not mind the nsfw growing. Maybe there can be more to make it childproof, ie a child account were NSFW is automatically disabled without the option to re-enable. (dont steal idea for post pls :D)

A lot of people are ignored by whales. It should become less and less an issue. Do your thing and let what happens happen. If you focus too much on whales and such it can get depressing and cease to be fun. Have fun... be honest... be civil... let what happens, happen. :)

as long as we have a way to powwerdown and transfer steem even if steemit.com is down we shoul be fine, we need to give a backup steemit block explorer the ability to let us spen our steem wallet and powerdown
